What's up folks! i signed up after reading an amazing thread on upgrading the stereo of an 06 silverado. I got a lot of good info from that. I am the proud owner of a 2012 GMC Sierra CC Z71 SLE. I really like the truck but it has a few "quirks" that are just annoying. First, when cooler outside, when the truck is completely cooled, when taking off at a descent acceleration, we'll say 1/2 throttle, shifting from 2nd to 3rd it does what GM describes as a "flare". it is almost like a slip but not an actual slip of the tranny. More of a long, slow shift. They say it is normal, as i had the 2013 loaner doing the same thing in no time. GM actually had my dealer take 5 new trucks off the lot to test. 3 of them did the same thing. it only does it once, but is still annoying. 2nd, the freeking headlights/dome lights. My headlights flicker when both at idle and driving then the a/c compressor kicks on/off. domelight when at idle dims when you press the brakes...they also say this is normal..whatever..

But i do love the truck! So far i have only tintet the glass and upgraded the headlights to Sylvania silverstar ulras. BIG DIFFERENCE! i'm not a big fan of the HID's, so i just went with a bulb upgrade. I want to toy with the exterior lighing, maybe some led lights and such. Mainly i am wanting to upgrade that weak stock stereo. It is the non Bose system. After some of the reading i have done, i will probably keep the stock head unit, and for now just add an amp (probably the pioneer gm-d8604) mounted on the rear wall behing the rear seats powering the Alpine SPR 60C components up front and Alpine SPR 60 in the rear doors. I have read in a few places that the 60C's tweeters will actually fit where the stock tweeers are located. I really hope that is the case, i really dont care to drill holes in the truck. Maybe one day add a sub, but im not too much worried about bass. i mostly listen to rock and dont want any sounds drowned out by excessive bass...plus im too old for all that crap now. Any ideas or tips? I'll be doing the install myself, eventually...The boss/wife kinda has a hold on my spending for now..
