Maybe the GM dealer owner was a LARGE guy??

I'd say a new lower foam & another leather cover is in order. Remember leather is skin. As it wears it stretches & wrinkles SOME.

Good luck & keep us updated.

BTW, does your Ext'd cab have a sunroof?? Or is there something in your avatar picture's background?

Haha, actually he wasn't. I'm roughly 6'3" and 160lbs soaking wet. The dealership owner was about a foot shorter than I am and 150lbs at most. Yup, that's a sunroof on my extended cab.

Good to see GM trying to make this right. Keep us updated.

I hope they do. Will keep this thread updated.

I am very disappointed with the quality of leather seats in my '09 Impala LTZ. I am glad my '06 Silverado has cloth seats. Real cloth, unlike that super cheap stuff they started using in GMT900s.

I feel your pain buddy. Right about now I would take my old 2006 Sierra sle that I traded in on for this truck. That was a good truck.

I've seen that happen on leather seats before, upholstering seats is a pain, I used to do it often at the dealer cause I was good at it. They either need to re-do the job (they don't really need to order a new cover) or pony up for a new seat.

I have experienced the shift flare you describe and brought it to my dealer's attention. They couldn't duplicate it (no surprise really- like yours, it happens with no common parameters). This summer I met someone who has been a GM master tech for a long time through a mutual friend and I asked him about it and he said he had seen it before and he thinks the flare is a result of the transmission always trying to shift as smooth as possible but sometimes not properly figuring in load so the shift ends up sloppy. He hasn't heard of any real common failures of the 6L80 so I have chosen not to pursue it further as a dealer could keep the truck for a week and it might not ever do it.

I'd love for GM to provide a new seat. Like you said, I dont think the issue will be resolved by simply replacing the leather. The cushion is shot.

Nice to know about the transmission, I may be over reacting to the situation a little, but it still is worrisome for a new truck to act this way. Regardless, I still love the 6 speed.

tricia is a guy ....i know right !!!

take the POS truck back and throw the keys at the service mgr and say "call me when its fixed "

I'd love to lol

They are just hoping you go away, those service representative sitting behind that counter believe thier own lies I swear. They won't fix problems they can't reproduce, like your transmission problem. For the seat, I'd go right to the manager. I know your pain, I don't know any dealers around my area with employees that have intelligence above the level of moron.

That's the feeling I'm getting. Worst is, the first time I brought the truck in for service, the manager was the person I dealt with right away! Where do I go from here??

My sierra 6 speed transmission was doing the same thing but only to find out that the reason it was slipping was because the transmission was too cold. I was told that theses tranny should not be operated till at a temp of 100 degrees. I haven't had the problem since then so I suggest not getting in your truck in the morning and just taking off let the truck warm up.

I actually only notice it when getting off the highway on my way to work, so by them the transmission is plenty warm. But good idea nonetheless

There might be some merit to that line of thought as I usually only see it when first starting off in the morning or after the truck has sat for a while. But letting the truck idle till the trans reaches 100* is absurd- on a cold day it might not ever reach that just idling, or at least not in any reasonable amount of time.

I let my truck idle for 10 minutes and my transmission temp is 92*. And at 4:30 am here in Washington it's 25* outside mine heats up in this weather.

I am on my second GMT900 with leather seats. Both have worn exceptionally well. Yours is a little excessive in the sagging. I feel that the 6 speed is a great transmission. I tow over 6000lbs regularly and it does great. I haven't heard of many of them having issues. I would just keep working with the dealer and GM customer service. Be patient, you have to understand that a stretchy seat bottom is not going to be high on their list of priorities.

Rob1231 : Where in Ontario are you? If you are anywhere in Northern Ontario I know a good dealer.

Nice truck by the way, I have almost the same except Carbon Black Metallic and the 6.2L. And I also have a sunroof in my extended cab and love it!

Since early fall, I've also noticed a small slip in first 2-3 shift of the day. Thos shift always happens going uphill.

I have little to say on the seats beyond my friends truck is doing the same plus tearing on the side of the cover by the seat belt. They replaced the cover once and it's just doing it again.

On the trans...... good luck. I had the proper TSB in hand and 3 dealers flat out turned me down on fixing it. The truck flared from 2nd to 3rd quite a bit...... and got worse with more mileage but they did nothing about it. Instead I was told they couldn't replicate ( of course) or one moron even tried the famous GM line of "It's normal". Uh uh......When the engine blew up at 100000 kms that was the last time I ever saw that junk heap, and never again..... Funny thing was a buddies truck was flaring too ( 6L90E as well) and GM told him the same line....That said this is the problem you have stemming from some o-rings in the valve body. The link below is the problem and yes there is a TSB floating around that includes the trucks in it's description which at the time is what I had with me. I wish you luck on actually getting someone to fix it on GM's dime however.

I agree with the above post on having a hard time with warranty work getting done on something that doesn't disable a vehicle at least. They always doubt you and threaten you with crap lines like "you might be charged to look at it." I'm just glad I only had to deal with one item.

Just west of Ottawa. Is north for you Northbay, or even further? And the sunroof in the extended cab is the greatest, I love it.

I didn't have the chance to give gm a call on Friday, but will be tomorrow morning sometime!

I'm in Ottawa. Which dealership is giving you a hard time with the seat?

Vic Bennetts in Carleton Place, and I've taken it to Jim Tubmans on Bank St twice.

My truck seems to slip from 1st to 2nd when it's cold too. It also doesn't do it once it's warmed up though just like you said. Don't know if I should be concerned or not?

I'm not sitting around 10 minutes for the truck to warm up and honestly whoever told you not to operate the trans till 100* lied, you will find that nowhere in any manual. There is an issue that seems somewhat common with the trans but unfortunately the TSB linked only covers to 2009. It makes it sound like some revision was made that should've fixed it. Mine has done it pretty much all along and I did make one attempt to have them address it so if something breaks, I just hope it happens before 100k.
