With all the upgrades and suspension geometry changes you guys have done, has anyone upgraded the tie-rods? The stock ones seem wimpy enough for a stock half-ton let alone a lifted truck with 33's or 35's. I've been searching for a good hour now and the few HD tie-rods I've found for GM half-tons say they aren't compatible with our electric steering for some reason.

My BDS kit came with new tie rods.

Rawhide I tried to respond to your question about the ProComp Stage 2 lift. I could not send the message privately for some reason. So ill try it here. You asked what I thought of the lift and why I purchased it.

Thank for the compliment.

I purchased this lift because when I test drove the 6 inch lifted Silverado's at the dealership it rode smooth. The dealership uses this lift from 4Wheel Parts in my town on their 6 inch lifted trucks. It rode as smooth as the stock Z71's. Only problem is they tacked on 10,000 to the price of the truck if I purchased it with the lift and THEIR 20 inch wheels and 32inch tires.

So I purchased the stock Z71 with 18wheels and ran over to 4Wheel Parts to pick out my taste in 20inch wheels and 35 inch Toyo's AT2's. I saved around 4grand. The wife and 6 month old son sit in the back and she says it rides great and notice no different in ride from stock. I also notice no difference from stock when I drive it. I have received plenty of compliments from friends and coworkers along with strangers in parking lots since I lifted her. She came looking and drivibg just as I had hoped.

Any problems with axle wrap? I've been looking at this kit a lot and am just worried about axle wrap with the blocks

Posted

Axle wrap? With the stage2 you get another leaf added on top of the block with pro runner shocks.

Also with the stage2 you lose the stock struts and spacer and add the adjustable coilovers.

Payton34, would it be possible for you to take a picture of your truck from the front down the side? Your truck has become my inspiration and I would like to see how far those 35's stick out and the difference from the fronts and the rear tires. Thank you in advance.

Yes it increases the front the tires stick out 1- 1.5" the rear are flush with the body I didn't want to use spacers

Thank you. I may not want to use spacers either now. I really expected your fronts to be sticking out more than that. I am glad they don't though as I don't really like the fender flares.

Anyone with Zone 4.5" or BDS 4", how is it holding up and could you post a picture of your angles?

Sweet thanks. How's the handling/ride like? One reason I want to go with BDS is because they give new struts instead of just a spacer.

Well i started out with the strut spacer but later on got rid of the spacer and had custom coil overs built. handling was just fine and rode about the same as stock with the spacer. i can tell i difference with the new coils though on the rough stuff. if i could go back i would have started with BDS b/c of the new struts but they didnt have that option when i was looking though

Yeah I'm really considering BDS. I'll probably add the 1.25" RCX body lift to clear 35s with lots of room.

Something I don't get at all, however, is that BDS and Zone both claim you can run 35s on their lifts, yet with RCX's 5" lift which is higher than both of them, says you can only run 33s... wtf?

Why not just go with the bds 6" lift? Lol

    • I have never seen GM instructions for the other trucks as per the HD with the 6 speed or the half tons but had got the impression that the HD trucks with the 6 speed were not having the same problem that the 10 speed and pan presented. Also video that I have seen of the HD 10 speed with the gas engine starting in 2024 model year showed that it was a real struggle to even make it work when pulling down hard on the exhaust after undoing the exhaust hanger bracket on the side of the transmission as after all there is little room for the pipe to even go down behind the Y joint as it soon would hit a frame cross member. Also that they had tried just like I did with the gasket off and no way was that pan coming out any way they tried to manipulate the pan. From that as well as the local transmission shop talking about the pain in the rear issue, I was not expecting my pan to come out because GM shows it was not even intended to come out without dealing with the exhaust piping.    It would be nice to claim, here's what you do and its easy to remove the pan guaranteed on any HD truck with the gas 10 speed but dollars to donuts the next guy trying what I did would not have the same luck as the exhaust was just manufactured slightly different and be pissed off at my claim that the pan comes out with no issue. Its more of a try and see if your particular truck might work like mine did .... or not !.
    • Sorry I didn't see this until now, but it works on both the 6 speed and 10 speeds, as well as all the half tons too.
    • Hello, I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 that I recently changed both motor mounts on due to the driver's side being blown out. After replacement I seem to have a steady vibration that I can feel in the pedals and the back of the seat. At this point I'm convinced that the aftermarket "Anchor" branded mounts I used are not performing as well as OE, the only real reason I ended up using the mounts in question was because my local dealers were out a few months to get a Driver's side mount. I've tried "Neutralizing" the mounts according to the motor mount TSB published for these truck to no avail. My trans mount is also in great shape and seems to be absorbing vibrations swimmingly. As far as I can tell there is no issues idling, my idle RPM is steady and I've recently put GM plugs and wires on, however, I have not cleaned the throttle body or intake valves. Any one else have a similar experience with aftermarket mounts? Patience certainly is a virtue that I wish I exercised here. Thank you!
    • I still saw people out for runs, on their bikes/motorcylces, jeeps with the doors off driving around here the past 2 days. I guess we are just used to it here haha.   Tasted like a bonfire the last 2 days.
