2008 sierra 2500 muffler

Ok so I am set on replacing my oem muffler with a flowmaster 50 or 70 series big block, problem is the 50 does not come in stainless and the 70 only comes in 3inch (stock pipe is 3.5) I live in western pa so we have moderate winters and lots of calcium/salt on the roads will it hurt performance to adapt he pipe to 3 inch for the stainless muffler or deal with the aluminized 50 series? Any advice appreciated!

I can tell you this one is being delivered to me today and I'll have it on this weekend. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flo-8435439 I realize it is a 40 Series and may be a bit louder than you would like but it is a full stainless 3.5 inch in/out with the offset/offset we need to match factory.

Got it installed today, it will probably be too loud for your taste. I really like the sound but if you dont want interior drone don't buy the muffler I did. This is the loudest 40 series flowmaster I have ever heard. It has the typical muscle car sound and it is by no means straight pipe sound or noise, you probably want to look at a 50 or 70 series.

I had a 70 series on my 05 silverado hd 6.0, and loved it. I had a 50 series on my current 2011 gmc 6.0....too dammm loud and too much drone for me especially when towing.. Took it of and put the stock unit back on...will probably fo with another 70 series.....

I don't remember the series that I got, but its the big block muffler and it as the dual 3 inch into the muffler then has the 3.5 inch single outlet. I got the 18 or 20 inch stainless tip from Summit or Jegs(it's was back in late 2006) and welded it to the tip. It's loud, and has some drone, but I love the sound even after almost 7 years.

Thanks for all the input I am still a little torn just because I'm frustrated with flowmaster I have called 4 times and left two messages and have not got an answer however magnaflow and borla both were able to answer my questions immediately I always preferred the flowmaster sound but I'm big on costumer service as well and it's a bit disconcerting that they can't find time to talk to a costumer for a few moments

I spoke with them and had the same concerns you have. I told them I wanted to hear it, but not so much that my Bluetooth wouldn't work. They recommended the 50 Series Big Block (part #53553, 3.5 offset in, 3.5 opposite offset out) and said it was the quietest muffler they have. I am very happy with it. It has that distinct Flow master rumble at idle, someone definitely knows when you stomp on it to pass them, yet I can hear myself think and use my Bluetooth at 80 mph going down the interstate.
