Silverado-Hareek Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I've put this off too long. Ordering my RX can right now. Also looking into a BG cleaning. Coming up on 15000 miles. My only complaint is I didn't install my RX can sooner. The thing has been working great!
fondupot Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 My only complaint is I didn't install my RX can sooner. The thing has been working great! I used to have one when I had my 2010 Camaro. Caught a lot of crap on that 6.2 and that wasn't even a DI motor.

How many miles did you have on the can and did you ever try to clean it out? I read somewhere about spraying half a can of carburetor cleaner on the inside, shaking it up, and then letting it drain completely to clean the inside out. This is per RX but they said you don't really have to do that as they have about 60+ thousand miles on cans without any performance loss. Not sure how they measure that though unless maybe they cut one open to look at it.
Yamiryder Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Awesome yeah I see it now I didn't look closely enough at the left side of the picture. Is that salt/chemicals from the roads all in your engine bay? Sadly yes
Silverado-Hareek Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Sadly yes Wow that's crazy man. I'm assuming you're in one of the northern states. I always hear people talk about the amount of chemicals they put on the road up there but I've never seen anything like that before. Do you hose out your engine bay often?

But Probably only 5000 miles on the catch can. I would drain the can every few weeks and it would get a few ounces of oil and condensation in the can. I don't have that catch can anymore anyways, I just bought a brand new one yesterday. Wow that's crazy man. I'm assuming you're in one of the northern states. Oh yea, I live in suburban Chicago and they throw so much goddamn salt on the roads. Although this winter I have noticed they have been using more sand than normal, but still an exorbitant amount of salt. My truck is goddamn filthy. Haven't opened the hood in a while tho... Put commuting 50 miles a day it's almost worthless.
Silverado-Hareek Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Will adding a catch can void the warranty? It's been reported in this thread by users that no it will not. I'm skeptical though and if something were to happen to the engine I personally would expect GM to say something about my catch can depending on what went wrong. Has anyone with a catch can run into any issues with their free GM oil changes?

southern_sierra Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) I installed my add w1 can today. After getting everything all check over I started the engine up and now has a vacuum suction sound that was not there before install. I didn't use clamps since its all under vacuum pressure. So just to make sure went back and installed clamps on all the fittings. Started up it up again and still have suction sound, I then unhooked the hoses from the engine and installed the stock hose back on the suction sound went away. Does anyone have that sound now. The sound is not coming from the can and not from the inlet on the side of the intake its on the front almost sounds like it could be from the pvc outlet on the drivers side valve cover. I have taken that hose aloose and put it back on and both ends click in place. This may be normal now with the can and more hose install I just don't know never have been around one before. I also took it down the road with the can hooked up and could hear a slight buzzing sound while driving off slowly. Thanks Attached Thumbnails Edited February 9, 2015 by southern_sierra
shep28 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I have one on my ls1 z28. I installed in 99' and the intake is as clean today as when it was new. It about a 1/4 full of oil at each oil change.
Bonker Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I contacted my dealer regarding the catch can voiding my warranty and they told me that it would not void my warranty if I install the catch can 1
Gmcant33 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Just placed the order on the RX CC and still on fence on clean side seperator. Will wait to here more review on that. Hope to hear some feedback.
