Just picked up a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali.  Love this truck. I need to get a lift or level.  I am also thinking about replacing the Denali grill with an SLT grill.  I photoshopped what I think it will look like - comments?

Here is a current picture of it - all stock

Here is the photoshopped version. I have picked up an SLT grill, I need to get the chrome surround painted black, pick up some red tow hooks and then Plasti-dip the chrome area under the grill.  Let me know, or should I keep the Denali grill?

Do you have any idea how many people would love to trade their SLT grille for your Denali grill...

LOL, you are right,  the guy I purchased the grill from had put on a Denali grill. To be honest, I love the Denali - everything about it - except the garish grill and maybe the 22s also.  I like the Elevation Edition but my primary focus was getting a 6.2L - and every Elevation Edition I saw had a 5.3L.  I absolutely love the get up and go on this truck. I have a 5.3L Suburban and had a 5.3L Avalanche- the 5.3L did not make me happy. So I thought I would get a Denali and the 6.2L with all the extras that come with it and ditch the grill.  I have no intention of selling the Denali grill - sorry - I will keep it if I don’t like the SLT grill and for possible resale. Personally I just think the truck looks better with the SLT grill with the chrome surround painted black, in my case. Plus I like the red hooks from the AT4.  At the end of the day, I can just put the Denali grill back on.

The 6.2L is exclusive to SLT and Denali trims on GMC and LTZ and High Country / Premier on Chevy

You are right. I have to admit, by the time I was at the dealer, ready to buy, I was only looking for a Denali - I did ask the dealer if they had an Elevation Edition - no they did not. And even if they did - I probably would have still purchased the Denali - my mind was made up on that decision.  I like the dash, the fold out step and the fact they had the 6.2L on the lot that day. At the end of the day I wanted the Denali and I will try the other grill - if I like it, I will keep it on, if I don’t then back on goes the Denali grill. No harm, no foul.  Hey it’s worth a try.

Your ride quality will suffer tremendously from the 22’s. I know this cause my dealership surprised me with 22’s on my SLT and understood when I said “NO” and slapped on 20’s. Now I wish I had put on 18’s cause it’s much tougher jumping into E -F rated tires, thankfully, running the CST lift which smoothened out considerably putting everything back to stock geometry. Wonder if there’s a 285/65/20 tire out there that’s C rated?? [emoji848]

Yeah, Im not new when it comes to bigger wheels and tires. This truck has the smallest tires on a truck that i have ever owned. My Excursion is sitting nice with a 7" lift and 37x13.50x22 tires.

I havent been in a silverado with 22's yet. Id like to see the difference in ride.

It’s not a comfy ride, looks good but ride quality definitely suffers. I’m sure you’ll be able to find an SLT or LTZ with 22’s for a quick test drive. As a daily you’ll be slapping yourself lol. I may even be going to 18’s if I can’t find a smoother ride out of a 285/65/20. My Ridge Grapplers are great tires but do ride harsher being E-F rated.

I’m sure lots of them out there. If it’s bumpy in a Denali with magnetic ride then imagine if it didn’t have magnetic ride

Hmm. See, now there are a bunch of people who hate the magnetic ride and actually take it off. So does that mean it rides worse?  Guess ill have to drive both.  Denali is the only one with it right?

It’s optional on SLT’s too. I’ve heard they’re in the shop a lot and that if not for the Denali package and 6.2 they would’ve been traded in, that’s why I got my 18 SLT Z71 pwemium package with standard bed without it...oh, and didn’t want so much chrome either but I would’ve definitely jumped on a Denali if it didn’t come with that magnetic ride. Anyhow, it’s all doable.

    • People mislead themselves. Statistics are highly useful indicators.   Here's the tie-in to this thread. If an oil sample tests shows a wear indicator of 7 using cheaper ACDelco oil, and a wear indicator of 2 (lower = less wear) using a particular brand of Mobil oil, and wear has a linear relationship with engine lifespan, anyone could assume that Mobil is reducing wear by more than 50% (let's just say a 200% reduction for you red state people trying hard to do math) which leads to increasing engine life by 2x. Perhaps, in a vacuum, by itself, when dreamed by AI.   Yeah?! That's what the statistic is saying, isn't it?   No, it isn't. It didn't come out and say engine life is doubled. That's a very bad assumption, and a case of severe myopia by assuming something potentially untrue about the only data point in focus.   Average cost of a new car is 50k. You bet it is.   The median cost of a new car is more like 35k. Expensive cars are skewing the perception that "average" now means a $50k price of entry for a very average automobile. And that's not true. People who don't understand statistics twist the living heck out of them to mean all sorts of things they don't actually mean.   "Average" new car payment is $1000/month. Yep, it is. And in that number are all the $35k new car buyers who bring significant equity, and the $25k new car buyers who finance the car for a month just to get a rebate, and then pay it off. Know what isn't in that number? All the payments made by people who don't finance a car.   Picking one's own data point (don't have a car payment, never paid $50k for a new vehicle, my house cost $170k, I afforded a middle class lifestyle on $4.50/hr) is just a data point. Just like earning $25/hr in an area where the median home price is almost $1 Million is a data point. In fact, it's a lot of data points given that 80% of the US population lives in/around major cities. They're not idiots; the vast majority of them do it to make a living because that's where the big money is.   The highs have become higher, lows have become lower, and how your personal mileage varies is not truth for an entire country. At the same time you can't NOT acknowledge the data. While it doesn't paint YOUR personal picture, it certainly tints the reality that you also live in, as does your single data point.
    • Glad you had success with it. I did as well, but about 5-6 months later it returned. Tried again, same result. This was after the dealer made several attempts and never even got it to slow down.
    • 3.15 Kroger’s in Montgomery Tx
    • I have a LTZ and it has the shifter in the console, which I like, but, every now and then, it will not stay in Reverse. I go through all the motions, hold the button in, push the shifter forward and watch the dash.  The big red R comes on and also the back up camera.  Then, it just pops out of Reverse with the shifter all the way forward.  So then the game begins.  Back and to Drive, Reverse.  This goes on 8 - 10 times. Very frustrating. Had it back to the dealer and they replaced some kind of computer, but it is now happing again. It is so bad, my wife will not drive the truck, she is afraid of being stuck somewhere.    Anyone else with this PIA problem?
    • I see where you’re going and I can appreciate that. Statistics can be misleading because of the word average. They say statistics show the average cost of a new vehicle is about 50k. The average monthly payment is close to 1000 dollars a month. That’s statistics for you. I know very few people who pay that.
