How does the new Tailgate Assist work?

I've been watching the new truck commercials and have been seeing the soft open tailgate. I don't see the extra support bracket that all of the after market ones have. Did I just miss it or is the factory version something different?

It's an absorber inside the tailgate housing down by the pivot things (don't know what they are called).

It's built into the tailgate. Works smooth as butter

works great,, not sure how,, but no more banging the tailgate when you open it and let go.

It's basically a long torsion rod that runs the width of the inside of the tailgate.

taking the tailgate off is not that hard part, that is easy. disconnecting the camera is a little more in depth.

A rubber tailgate mat will speed it up quite a bit. Ask me how I know:).

I chuckled at the way GM shows off this feature like they invented it. Really? you mean JUST LIKE the toyota and nissan had like 8 years ago??? My brother has a tundra and he's been laughing at my tailgate for 5 years.

There is a torsion bar built into the tailgate. Softens the fall, and makes closing it easier.

It's standard equipment at least that's what it says on the window sticker.
