[it's obvious that there is a design flaw. Maybe some type of group action would be better than individual complaints. I just don't know what kind of action would be effective].

BBB Autoline, is a form of action that is effective. Its an advocacy group for consumers like all of us here and as mentioned above can help.

Rewillia, I'm glad that your seats are fixed to your satisfaction. Do you have cooled seats as well as heated? The mechanic that worked on my truck told me that the bladder for the cooled seats is sandwiched between the seat and the heating element. If you don't have the cooled seats maybe that's why your heated seats are working so well.

Yes, my truck has both the heated/cooled option wherein heat is provided by heat strip/pad elements installed in the lower (seat bottom) and upper (seat back) cushions while seat cooling is provided via direct A/C ventilation into/through the perforated seats (there does not appear to be a cooling "bladder"in my seats).

That stated, my truck is a Denali with bucket seat config. which may or may not be different than yours. Maybe this (link) below can help;

I was hoping I would not be back but here I am. Update, last year I had problems with the drivers side bottom not heating. The dealer replaced the unit last winter and it worked fine. It was a little chilly yesterday morning so I turned on the drivers side heated seats. Yep, bottom did not work. My truck is at 35,825 miles. Warrenty will be out in a day or so. I called the dealer, told them what was going on. Dropped off the truck at the dealer this morning. Waiting to hear from the dealer now.

Bought my used truck last weekend and noticed the bottom of the seat not working on my drive into work the past couple days. Looks like I'll need to use rewillia's post/picture to get the issue fixed.

Somebodies gotta ask.

Are you sure you pushed the 'both' button and not the 'back only' button.

The CEO here likes to use the 'back only' mode.

Yeah it is on both. I wish there was just a bottom button rather than just back. Back seems to work just fine, steering wheel is nice and toasty.

Is it normal that the seats take 6 or so minutes to even notice they are on?? In our escape they are very toasty within 20 seconds or so and are much warmer.

Yes, it's normal. It sort of defeats the purpose of having toasty seats before the truck warms up, but that's the way they were designed for this series of truck.

Yes, they are slower than the previous generation.

Be sure you have enabled the setting for them to come on with the remote start (must be enabled and cold temp for them to come on with remote). Speeds it up a little.

I have the same issue on my 2014 LTZ Z71 "non" heated seats.

Has this issue been corrected?

Are the dealerships aware of the problem or will I have to hassle with them to get it fixed?

Thanks

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
    • I gotta say, I'm enjoying your narration. The troubles you've been having are amusing as you describe them. It's good to see that you're finally getting some satisfaction out the old beast though.
