I’ve been running a muffler and valve delete on my 14 Silverado for a couple months now. It’s definitely is louder that stock, but I’m not satisfied with the tone too much. I’m thinking about just adding a Flowmaster or Magnaflow on while keeping the resonator installed. Has anyone just swapped the muffler and kept the rear resinator in place?

i did that on my 15, and the next day i went back to have the resonator removed

Are you looking for louder over all or different sound.

I really just want it a little louder than stock. Not looking for anything super loud or aggressive. Just enough to have a slight rumble and not have too much cab noise. The tone of the muffler delete sounds like an exhaust leak to me now, it just lacks the lower tone I like. I'm iffy on removing the resonator because I don't want it super loud

i've had the magnaflow and that provided a nice mix

you could tell there was something there at startup, nice low tone rumble

and not loud when driving or under accelerating

Thanks I may try that route. It may be asking too much but do you recall which model muffler it was, or one you recommend?

magnaflow 12909 for 6.2L trucks

magnaflow 12909
Didn't have time to go back through the posts to see what truck you have. Just know that the Magnaflow 12909 is a 3.5" in and out. It fits on the 6.2 liter exhaust . I have this muffler welded to my stock system. Too it off for more found and went with a MBRP cat back. I found the Magnaflow too quiet unless I pinned the flapper valve open. I did have the resonator still on there though. It's a really good sound, deep and not crackly or poppy.
Now I feel the MBRP is a tad too loud.. At least when it shifts it has a weird flare to the sound.

I recently had the magnaflow 12909 installed and the flapper valve removed and I think its actually a little too loud. I was looking for something just a bit louder than factory that is quiet in the cab when cruising. I thought my factory exhaust on my 2011 6.2 was perfect. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at the gm performance exhaust made by corsa that comes on the all terrain x. Would this be louder than what I have now?

That's strange. I have that muffler and I can't hear it unless I pin the flapper open. Do you still have the resonator on the exhaust?

Have Magnaflow 12909 as well on my 6.2 and it sounds good to me.  Flapper is deleted but kept the stock resonator and does not sound loud at all.

I still have the resonator. I just had the muffler replaced and the flapper valve removed. Does magnaflo make a louder muffler that would fit the 6.2? Is it possible the muffler shop put in the wrong muffler?

Do you have the 5.3 ? If so I think the part number is 12586. That's the quietest over I believe. 3" in and out.
The 12909 is for the 6.2. it has 3.5" in and out.

No I have a 2017 GMC Sierra SLT with the 6.2L. Maybe I'm just getting old but I think its a bit too loud but the factory exhaust is ridiculously quiet, I can't hear it running from inside my house. I'm wondering if the gm performance exhaust by corsa would be quieter inside the cab because they tune the ANC with the exhaust. Its just an expensive price to pay if it's still too loud.

I just added a Flowmaster 40 in replace of the pipe from the the stock muffler delete. It has a nice low rumble and when I get on it, it can be heard even better. Not sure if I want to take the resonator off yet...
