What are you lowered guys using to fix and adjust your camber in the front? I am dropped 2" in the front and the alignment shop maxed out my adjustment bolts for the camber so I still have negative camber. Was just wondering what aftermarket stuff you are using for adjustment. Any help would be appreciated.

So I am going to buy a 2015 1500 Silverado LT and wanted to level the truck via rear shackles just because it will make it look better; but I have been reading about a few issues on this topic such as the bump stops bottoming out, the truck making some funny noises when going in reverse due to some sort of banging caused by the shackle drop, and also having to install shims due to the changing of an angle of some mechanical part( I know nothing about trucks or auto mechanics in general); I just wanted some advice from the guys who have done this type of drop on 2014+ trucks and wanted to know if yall could shed some light on these issues stated above or on any issues yall have had encountered along the way. My main concern is that I don't want to ruin a brand new truck.

Got more pics of your trucks? Looks pretty sweet and what size rims? As for alignment, I'm lowered 2" up front with spindles. The shop I took it to for alignment didn't need to do anything special and got it near perfect. What did you do to get the 2" drop, springs?

This thread is full of answers to your question. Some don't have any issues, some need driveshafts cut,I needed shim and a carrier bearing kit. Each truck is different and no one can answer your question on what you will need after a shackle install, prior to any work being done. Sounds like your best bet will be to let a shop do all the work for you.

My truck aligned perfect, no pinion shims, and no drive shaft cutting either.

Hopefully mine goes the same way. Finally got around to it, the shackles are ordered and she goes in next Monday.

Figured I'd jump in here. I stressed about the alignment when doing my drop and researched all over the place trying to find the answers. Everyone seemed to have a different experience or opinion on what I needed to do to keep the alignment in spec. I also found so many positive and negative reviews on some of the same products it made my choice even harder. Eventually I went with a full BellTech kit that included front lowering struts and a rear flip kit with hangers (the 5/6" kit. I also installed the camber correction kit that BellTech sells (the one bigsapper is talking about above). I consisted of alignment cams and slotting the upper control arm mounts for addition positive camber. Eventually I installed the front struts at their 2" setting and the rear kit at the 5" setting. On my 2014 single cab this still gave me a slight rake of about 3/4". Without the BellTech cams the truck would not have came back into alignment. I have also had no vibration that some have experienced and no issues with the drive shaft length (bigsapper mentioned on another forum he had some trouble with his BellTech kit) Here's how it turned out.

Let expound on the Belltech kit. It's a good kit you just need a good installer. The vibration was from loose bolts. :S

 

The only quibble I have with the kit is concerning the driveshaft. The instructions specifically state not to remove the driveshaft. I contacted their support but we ended up agreeing to disagree. I get their point that the driveshaft doesn't need to be cut to install their kit, but if you need to remove the driveshaft for any other reason you're going to be in a jam (literally). Getting mine cut and rebuilt wasn't a big deal to me since I track my truck and I had road mapped an upgraded driveshaft anyway.

What did you use for the lowering, and did the vibration occur after you lowered it?

Alright, so I finally got around to dropping the back of my truck. Used the Belltech shackles, my cousin did it for me at his shop.

As it sits now, the left side is 1.5" higher than the front, and the right is 2" higher (started out as a 4" difference!). In the future I may decide to take the blocks out so it's nearly level, but for now it's a big improvement. I'll drive it for a while and see. As is I haven't noticed any adverse effects on ride quality.

I'm getting 36" front and 37 1/2 rear. But I'm thinking of putting it back to stock. I'm getting vibration and noises from the back after the skackles was install. Looks good but not worth it.

I am thinking of doing the shackles and block to lower the back. Can I put the Air Bag Helper Springs on with this. Can I use the same ones for stock? Or do they make different ones for this?

    • That should answer the maximum depth difference between the stock and the PPE so its not hugely lower. As to the PML pan, they don't make any claims that it fits the L8T with the same transmission and in fact leave their information confusing, however on the surface it says "for Duramax" and so its hard to say. I know a while back and not sure which brand it was that specifically stated that the extra capacity pan that particular company made did NOT fit the gas version. 
    • There are several versions of the 5100's. Some for stock height, some for leveled, some for lifted.    Side note. I finally had a chance to tow with my 30' gooseneck with about 10,000 lbs of material on it this past week. Hands down the 5100's made the trailer towing much more stable and comfortable. I even had 10 cmu blocks in the bed. What a difference over the stock shocks. 
    • According to PML, the stock pan is 4.3" deep - (PML info): Dimensions: at deepest area, PML pan is 7 inches, stock pan is 4.3 inches    PPE is 5.4" so roughly 1.1" deeper than stock
    • I had not realized that PPE has come out with a version of a cast aluminum oil pan specific to being able to fit onto the 10L1000 with the L8T engine sometime this spring. I was doubting that anyone would come out with something beyond what Dorman had in more of a direct factory pan swap. I see from one comment that is on the PPE site that they found the pan to be tighter to install then the factory unit and having to flex the exhaust down to fit it. I didn't lookup any specs if they have any as per how much lower it hangs but as it holds more oil and has fins outside the pan it would no doubt hang a certain amount lower.    I looked back at the site and they do have some depth measurements to get a rough comparison to the factory pan total height or hang down if you will at the front and rear of the pan so that will give a good idea how much further down this pan would end up being for ground clearance issues.    2024-2026 GM 6.6L Gas 10L1000 Heavy-Duty Cast Transmission Pan – Pacific Performance Engineering    
    • I'm in constant amazement over the number of people that do oil maintenance by how they feel, what they were told, what materials cost, what brand A claims vs brand B.     Come to think of it, this behavior isn't exclusive to oil. 🤔 They drive this way too. 😬   There is a 20 plus page thread on BITOG on Mobil 1 Advanced Clean vs Valvoline Restore and Protect it would be amusing if it were not so........humanly pitiful.   Last Sunday we were are sitting at services and listening to a speaker talk about Jesus parable of the wide and narrow gates and he said something that hadn't dawned on me but totally fit the way people in general are about just about everything. He said there are so few people on the narrow path leading to a good reward not because the the narrow gate was hidden or hard to find but because the wide gate leading to a bad end it so darn easy and uncomplicated to follow!!!
