Pick up my new to me '14 cc, short box Sierra tomorrow. Got the dealer to include a set of 18" gloss black chev rims with new Duratrac tires in stock size for the 18's. Truck is Iridium. Think it'll look good. I read this entire thread and think I've decided to buck the local trend. Just about everyone and their dog has a lifted or levelled truck with oversize tires. Even me, my last ride was a lifted xterra on 33's. Going to try just removing the blocks on the rear of my Sierra to keep a little rake as I'll often be carrying 250 to 500 lbs of dirt bike(s) in the rear. Just unsure how it'll look with the aggressive Duratrac tires. Don't mind the aggressive tires, as camping and just getting the bikes to the trail will see me on gravel and sometimes muddy roads. And they're great in winter. I'll post up a pic if I decide to go ahead with it. Googling for lowered truck and aggressive tires didn't get me much lol.

I'm getting 36" front and 37 1/2 rear. But I'm thinking of putting it back to stock. I'm getting vibration and noises from the back after the skackles was install. Looks good but not worth it.

 

I like the sounds of those measurements, but I agree not worth it if you're getting vibrations... How about putting the shackles back to stock and pulling the rear block instead?

I have the stupid magnetic ride control. I there are sensor bolted onto the blocks,so it can not be removed. But it was riding great stock. With a few hundred pounds in the back it rides even better.

I am getting the 2" McGaughys shackles, I've read nothing but good things about their products.

If you have a 2015 with magnetic suspension then I would reconsider.

Sorry guys, I have read this whole thread and I'm still confused. I am looking to lower my 15 4wd Denali and was wondering if it is possible? I would love a 3/5 drop but would settle for a 2/4? I haven't seen a lowered Denali on here yet. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

 

I've dropped mine 2/4 with McGaughys. Getting a stabilitrak light keep coming on at slow speed turns in side streets and parking lots. Not worth the hassle until I can figure it out. Had the BCM reset today at GM. Not fixed. ???

I had the same issue intermittently a few times. Just like you, only at slow speed (maybe 2-5 mph). A few times Ive felt the brakes pulsate like I was losing traction. I have no idea whats caused it. I have a 2/3 drop though and it hasnt happened in a month.

I'm looking for help in regards to my Stabilitrak. I lowered my 2015 Denali 1500 2/4 with McGaughys kit. It's got Magnetic suspension with those little level control boxes. We bent the rods in the rear to match the factory angle like the kit said to do. Mr. McGaughy and staff won't answer calls or return messages so here I am. At about around 5-20 mph turns on side streets or parking lots the Stabilitrak light will flicker a few times and cut throttle until I straighten out again. I have 24" wheels on the vehicle. Just had a wheel alignment. GM just reset my BCM (body control module) today as well and it's still not fixed. Any help would be wonderful. Sorry for the double post. This one has better info. Thanks!!

Installed the 4"/7" Belltech kit today. Spindles, Street Performance struts and upper control arm offset bushings in the front. Flip kit and Street Performance shocks in the rear. Perfect alignment with still some camber adjustment to spare. Rides really nice although the rear shocks are a tad stiff. No vibrations or issues of any kind.

I'm wondering if anyone on this site can provide some insight. I currently have rancho quicklifts that give me 2" of lift. They are a complete strut assembly that is slightly longer than stock and also raises the spring perch similar to bilstein 5100's. You're probably wondering why I'm talking about lift struts on a lowering thread, but here it goes.

 

I'm considering using 1" lowering coils to drop my truck down to 1" of lift instead of 2" of lift. The rancho quicklifts that I have use an OEM spring and I find they're too stiff and I assume its from the way they raised the spring perch, which in turn compresses the coil.

 

I'm hoping there are some 1" lowering coils that have either the same spring rate or an even lower spring rate than stock. If it was lower I could increase my adjustable damping on these shocks to compensate.

 

So my question is.. Does anyone know if there are any 1" lowering coils that are just as good if not better riding than stock coils?

Looks great! I was thinking of doing the same thing. Did you run into any problems with the seam on the bottom side bed only using the 1" hole on the shackle? Any problems at all with that setup?

Thanks! No problems with it, rides just like stock. I did bend the seem on the driver side but it was more for ease of access to putting the shackle in.

Do you think it could be done by loosening the bed bolts and lifting it a little. My bed is slightly off set anyway so I could even it out while I did the rear suspension.

You probably don't even have to bend the seem, it'll just take a little finessing lol I just got tired of struggling with the long bolt in the awkward position and trying to get it in.

    • I tried before I updated the scan tool just incase an update messed it up, but it never worked so I updated the scan tool and it still didn't work.   Only difference is I click on Sierra not Chevrolet cause I have a Sierra.   If I click on 2026-2024 I didn't have any option to change placard, when I click on 2023 it does give me the option but when I try to do it,.it says vehicle not supported!   I have my region or market or whatever it is set to America I think, is that what yours is set to?
    • Its just that it worked on 2024 trucks on this forum and my 2025 model truck, unless GM did something since that point to screw up access or Autel has a bad update. I haven't had need to use my tool since last year when I did the changes to the placard pressure settings and since then I updated the software on my Autel but have not plugged into the OBD so hard to say if I would get a surprise as well.    All I know last year when I bought the Autel I was warned to be sure to update it before I tried using the unit as they said who knows how long ago unit itself was actually manufactured as the software could be way out of date. 
    • And so you had gone through the process of registering and updating the tool and so on ?. All I can say is that on the front page as the tool fires up you go to advanced mode, then vehicle model comes up and you choose Silverado ( not the DRW or EV  since your a single rear wheel ) , then I think its choice 2 which is 07/2021 - 12/2026 ( 433mhz 13542523 ) as that is the series of tpms sensors and then go down to choice 5 which is tire type/pressure selection. Hit yes and it says to connect to OBD port and turn ignition on.    Having said this, I updated the software in my tool lately and these year range choices look different from the past due to them doing some updates it would appear and I have not connected up to the OBD port since last year so hopefully I am not in for a surprise with them screwing up the software and that it won't work on my truck anymore either.    So my question is, when you plugged into the OBD and started your truck it had that message on the Autel screen "vehicle not supported" ?. That does seem odd as tire shops would be pissed right off if hey can't use their tool on the model year after mine that in theory is supposed to be much the same truck ... unless GM did some change in the computer system to block certain things from access. 
    • Understanding and using modern scan tools is its own body of knowledge. I had little hope that would work...programming access to the BCM is probably required and that is not easy for us consumers. Expensive scan tool, GM programming subscription, online authentication, etc.   It also may be a matter of finding the right dealer to program it for you. Flashing a modern BCM might be a little too advanced for most tire shops.
    • Update for anyone following:    Installed everything as shown in diagram. Opted for 8 AWG from Battery Positive to a 50A resettable inline breaker. 8 AWG is tied into to 2x 12 AWG wires feeding a 6 way fuse bus in parallel (manufacturer’s design of what I purchased).    4 of the 6 fuses available for circuits are tied to terminal 30 of each relay. I tied a jumper from one of my spare circuits off the bus to terminal 86 of each relay. The trigger, terminal 85, was pulled from my interior by way of T-Taps from the X61A-X5 pins 10, 11, 17 and 23. This was the hardest part of the job. Even with the X61A unbolted and the X5 removed - there was VERY little wiggle room.  I added back up lights that I want to come on with my cargo lamp - but when I would check continuity between S48A-X1 pin 18 to its respective landing point on the X61A-X5 it triggers the factory relay… Instead I opted for a add-a-fuse on the passenger interior fuse panel (fuse location 10 - cargo lamp) and ran it through the boot on the driver side to my load. Did this to avoid introducing any electrical gremlins.   Note: Please check for continuity between the S48A-X1 and the X61A-X5. In my case wire colours were not the same as other’s who have posted. To do a continuity check you need a Multimeter. Completely disassemble the S48A-X1 and remove the brown face plate off the X61A-X5 by way of a flat head screwdriver - this was the only way I could get any results.   The outputs, terminal 87 of the relays, were fed into a junction box and landed at Individual studs and were labelled Aux 1-4.    At this point, all you need to do is run wire to your loads and bring them to ground. I created a negative bus in the engine bay, all my negatives land here.    For anyone having issues with all of your new aux switch lights coming on with the press of one - I noticed this only to be an issue when the battery wasn’t hooked up to my relays? No idea why, but it was quickly corrected by having my system buttoned up and functional.
