LED Fog Bulbs & Lights

I had too many beers after softball to be taking pictures of my fog lights. But I did make numerous observations, and had some input from my friends while drinking those beers.

1. They look awesome, matched with the white Hid headlights and the stock white mini led bulbs (Sierra)

2. They don't project as far as the headlights/brights, but they are brighter... So much brighter that they are hard to look at, especially at night. Oncoming traffic killers.

3. Since they're so bright and don't project past the headlights, the only purpose they serve is to look cool. Period.

It comes down to this. If you haven't already done your headlights, there's no reason to do the fogs. If you already have all white headlights, there's no reason why you'd keep the yellow fogs when you could spend $60 and match them, even if it's just for show.

I'm happy with them. I wanted the fogs to match the rest of the lighting on my truck and this was accomplished.

Awesome info MaliciousIntent! Thanks that helps a lot! I noticed the other night when i actually needed to use the stock fog lights that they do not project as far as the headlights either. So if the vled bulbs are brighter and project the same they are more useful as well as color matching. Do the vleds just shine to high as they may be to bright?

As for my headlights I am just going off the update with 4400K bulbs. so I have headlights to match the DRL Sierra lights. I and wanting to match color with fogs and still have them be useful( at least as good as stock) Any opinions? Thanks for all the info!!!

I have the rigid DOT fogs and have never once regretted doing the mod. They're truly the best in my opinion.

I had the flash on the camera, which is why you might see a slight hint of orange reflecting off the lights.

I am going to install my Rigid D2 Driving lights in the fog light mounts after work today.

Just a quick question. I want to use the existing fog light wiring, and I can't see it being an issue electrically seeing as each pod uses 2.5A which is nothing. My question is, can I cut the factory fog light connector off, and solder the Rigid connector from the Rigid wiring harness onto the factory wires, and they just plug it into the new pods?

That's what I did. I also used a diode so I can have the fog lights come on with the highs and lows. I didn't cut the stock plugs off so I could reconnect back to stock if I sell the truck. Lights are great. Only choice in my opinion.

Got my D2 lights installed last night at home in the driveway. Took about 4 hours with a supper break and working slow. Install was pretty easy overall.

They are the perfect brightness IMO. I wanted them to light up the ditches at night so that I can see deer and other animals waiting for the nice truck to run in front of.

I was a little concerned about aiming them but once they were in, they were almost perfect. I just tilted them down a little bit and tightened them up. I’ll try to post some pictures sometime.

They are just Rigid Industries D2 Driving lights.

Talking to my buddy today about my lights and he said I may have voided my warranty by putting them in. He was talking to his sister who worked at the GM dealership in town and she said that since I tapped into the factory electrical, if I have any electronic problems in the future with say my instrument cluster or radio, they may deny coverage due to the fog lights since everything is wired through the BCM on these trucks.

I know a dealer in another town that actually installs these lights on some of their trucks on the lot. You can't tell me that they'd void the electrical warranty of a brand new truck before selling it to the customer.

Installed the morimoto fog light replacement just now. Wish they were more secured to the oem assembly. I'll have pics up tonight when im at work.

My buddy has those and they are very bright and very white

Also have a clean cutoff line and look great in the stock fog location[emoji106]
