LED Fog Bulbs & Lights

I just got those last weekend. I've very particular and critical about light set ups. For the price they are really pretty good. Better than the 80W/7200LM Starnils I have in my H11 low beams. Really made the Fogs useable and brought the overall light output to an acceptable range from where they were stock, or with just the Starnil H11 LEDs. Great value, seemed to be the same a putco and a few other name brands, The part looks identical. Any better option will cost you much more and only be marginally better. Rigids would be better but are 6 times as much. A true 2500LM bulb to me.

What color would you say the light is? I've got 5000K HID's and they match the LED running lights. How do these compare?

How are you guys getting the partsam lights to latch into the housing? I just broke one of the tabs on the light base messing with it.

I had to send back the Partsam LEDs as one bulb kept blowing the fuse all by itself. I replaced with the JDM Astar units. The O-ring would not allow the bulb to fully seat in the housing, so I had to remove the housing and file out the opening a little bit. Its the exact same size o-ring as the OEM bulb, but the base on the JDM and Partsam LEDs is slightly larger.

That's good to know, thanks! I'm sending these back and am not sure what I'll get yet. I just don't think it's worth spending a bunch of money on them when all I want is color to match my low beam LEDs. I also switched over the o-ring from my factory bulbs to see if that was the issue, but still couldn't get them to seat. This was all from laying under the truck so I couldn't reach hardly anything to check it out better. I might try and remove the housing next time.

Just a couple more day time pictures. I realized the other picture was kind of far away.

These are the xb Morimotos right? If they are do you think they are worth the 200 price tag, and also was installation easy with them?

Installed these in my 2015 fog lights. Very slight mod was needed go get them to fit. It was as simple as shaving a bit of plastic on the gm lense.

The difference is out of this world. I can now see left and right with confidence!!! The color is very nice bright white, maybe just a touch of blue.

Going to install the matching led headlights hopefully tomorrow.

What exactly did you shave? Inside of the housing where the bulb fits?

Has anyone installed the GMC XB Morimoto lamps in a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD truck. Morimoto does not have a fitment information for this truck yet?

Thanks in advance if you can answer this request.

There's a thread dedicated to just the xb morimotos. There's a couple of more pics in there. The pics below are my install. I think they are worth the money considering I had already spent money on their HID kit. Now everything matches and I have fogs that actually provide usefulness.

I just wanted to chime in here and share my experience with my Rigid DOT fogs so far.

Overall I give them a 10/10. Can't beat the Rigid quality. You definitely get what you pay for and these fog lights are better than anything I've ever seen. So last night I'm currently going through a move and I had the bed of my truck loaded full of stuff and a trailer loaded with stuff so my truck probably had an inch or two of squat. My headlights are 55W 6500K TRS, so I was getting flashed right and left as my headlights were way up in the trees. Once I got onto a pretty well traveled 2 lane back road, I didn't feel good about literally blinding other drivers so I decided to just try using my fogs only. Unbelievable. Believe it or not, they can easily be used as a second set of headlights. I could see wide and still pretty far. No more blinding other drivers and I could see just fine. When there wasn't oncoming traffic, I would just flip on my LED bar and could see forever. Even my Dad (who is pretty old school and things spending money of "fancy" lights is a waste) was impressed. He couldn't believe I was only driving with my fog lights. He called me this morning and asked "Hey, those fancy little lights you had on last night, would they fit on my suburban?" I got a good laugh out of it.

Just wanted to share this so if anyone is on the fence about whether or not they are worth getting, I wouldn't hesitate one bit.

How do they fit? I always had a problem with both clips staying intact.

I'm in the same boat with some Amazon special led's. The seller is sending me a new set because the tabs weren't clipping in completely. Not sure why gm chose the h16 it's a horrible design.

I removed mine tonight and put the factory fogs back in. Hopefully the moisture will dry up. I live in the Dallas area and its been pretty humid the last couple of weeks.

Looking at trying the VLED 5202

    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
