2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

I'm thinking the Roll & Lock A Series. I would like to hear from those who have one or one like it. Yes it's pricy, but I want one with a secure locking system, and one that I could haul a refrigerator if I needed to without removing it.

Guys with the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite, did you buy it from Fold-A-Cover direct?

 

I am not having much luck finding anybody selling it online. Locally it is either GM dealer or a local truck accessory dealer and They told they haven't sold one in years and are uncertain if they can still get them.

 

Also, anyone with this cover and an AMP Bedxtender have any fitment issues? Thinking about the bedxtender to help keep them ngs from going forward in the bed.

You can open any of the Bak folding covers with a coat hanger and they all have the rubber "hinges" and seals.

No, some of the other manufactures have their seals covered by aluminum. Possibly all the folding ones have exposed rubber. I've looked at so many I can't remember every detail.

Agree that all of the BAK models can be opened by using a coat hanger, but the VP model does not have exposed hinges at all. The entire top is encased in a vinyl like skin...no hinges exposed...just to clarify.

There's something else to this thread that we really haven't addressed with regards to evaluating how "good" these various tonneau covers are, and that is the quality of the installation.

 

Not to put too fine a point on it, but installation can make or break the final product depending on the skill level of the installer and the level of difficulty of the installation. Also, how well the product interfaces with the various trucks in question.

 

When I install or work on anything, I research the hell out of the procedure before I pick up a tool. Many times I have brought into play modifications to a product or alterations to the install or assembly to improve the final product. But, most of the time just following instructions closely results in a satisfying end product. Others are sometimes not that careful. That can result in widely varying levels of product satisfaction.

 

Put a cover on wrong, and it will leak, rattle, be hard to remove, etc.

The cover being water proof / resistant is actually NOT terribly important. The leaks are because of short and ineffective seals, gaps, etc. The "cover" is just the part that folds up and isn't the source of the leaks everyone is having.

Yeah, I know that. I believe they were referring to it's ability to seal well, hence their claim that it's their "best" folding cover in that regard.

I had do think about that for a bit. My opinion is that the RollNLock A-Series is the best overall cover. It's expensive though.
