Any of you guys with the Access Vanish or similar soft roll up cover have any issues with the cover flapping at highway speeds? This cover is in my budget, but I drive a lot of highway miles and I don't want it flapping around making noise on my long trips.

I have the Next step up Access Lorado Cover... Mine does wave/flutter when driving and even parked if its a windy day... But as far as noise, I don't here it at all... I think I need to do tighten her up a little and see if it makes a difference... Other than that, I've had it for a year a love it... Paid 369$ and had it installed for a total OTD price of 405$.

Just pulled the trigger on a Revolver X2 from Morrie at Tonneufactoryoutlet. Great price and service.

My new Revolver X2(BAK-39120) came in the mail today from tonneau factory outlet. ONE DAY SHIPPING, thanks to being just one state over from the warehouse. Anyways, on to the install. I'm not going to go step by step, what I will do is share some things I learned along the way to hopefully help save someone some time and headache in the future.

 

Vehicle: 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew Cab 5'8" bed w/ factory drop-in plastic liner.

 

First thing of note, the bulkhead. It says if you have a drop-in liner to use the thinner 1/4" bulkhead seal and for spray-in the thicker 3/4" seal. based on a hunch I used the thicker seal and it ended up being the correct choice. It's a good idea to clean the top of the bed with alcohol first, as with most adhesive work. See image below:

I also used the remaining bulkhead seal to shore up the corners:

The rails were easy to install. The cover is heavy, don't almost drop it like I did while trying to set it up on the rails.

What worked best for me was to get the cover in place and tighten the nylon locking nuts most of the way, then check the fitment and then roll the cover up to fully tighten the nuts. Otherwise, the cover likes to creep on you while tightening and it is annoying when you're on your own.

 

Final fitment:

Another note: watch the latches. I made sure that I allowed enough space between the metal bracket and the plastic housing of the latch, so that the metal doesn't rub the plastic.

Question.....when you are driving and look in the rear view mirror do you see it moving at all ?

At speeds over 70mph it does move a little as the truck bounces with the road. Not bad though. Below 70 I noticed little if any movement.

I've the older version. CC standard bed 6.5 it's awesome. Besides early in the morning when it was really cold at night. But i could still roll it up by the time i get to work if i need too... im sure the new 1 is even better don't understand how tho lol.

When I installed mine, instead of rolling the cover back up to tighten the nuts I just crawled back up inside the bed to do it.

Thanks, the reason I was wondering is with a regular cab I was worried I'd be able to hear it inside the cab....but hopefully not !

I noticed in the video's I have seen they roll it up and tighten it and I always thought it might move slightly when you did that.....good thinking !

Yep I tried that first but couldn't get the cover to stay lined up just right.

Well I decided to hold off on the tonneau for the time being. I made the decision to spend the money on Line-X since I didn't get the factory bed liner. I decided to go with the bed liner first because when I moved a wooden headboard last weekend and the wood scratched the paint down to the primer. I was shocked at how soft the paint was. The truck is 2 months old so I figured it was plenty of time for the paint to finally cure and harden but I guess not.

 

But when I was talking to the guys at the Line-X, who are "authorized dealers and installers" for many tonneau covers, they actually tried to persuade me to NOT get the G4. They mentioned they had a bad experience with the manufacturer once so they will never go back. Of course this is one brand and model they don't offer so doesn't surprise me they would try and discredit it. They do offer the undercover flex and what do you know, they tried to sell me one. I'm also convinced that GM wouldn't offer the G4 without thoroughly vetting the product.

For what it's worth, on my 14 I had an issue where I may have over tightened the latch nuts and messed them up, and I also may have over tightened ( :P ) one of the striker bolts, I called them asking to purchase replacement and they mailed them to me free of charge!!! I also had a couple questions during that install and they were just a phone call away, really helpful. That's the reason I got another G4 Elite when I got my 15, customer service is very important to me.
