I have a Bakflip MX4 for sale. New. One problem, the rods that hold it fully open are too long.  If you don't plan to open it or can fix it, this is the top for you at a big discount. Let's say $700 plus shipping.

I've had my Fold-a-cover installed for a few weeks now and wanted to report back. I opted for the tool caddy as well. All in with tax/shipping it was about $1,400.

Coming from a Chevy Avalanche, this combination works really well for me. Having the tool caddy allows me to store and Lock items away and still have the other three panels folded to carry larger items.

The tool caddy also sits about four to five in off the bed floor, so longer items can utilize the full bed length.

Thus far the system has been watertight through several torrential downpours.

I've found this forum to be very informative.  I've been a lurker and not much of a poster.  I'd post this in another section, but I don't have enough posts.  I'm parting with my 16 slt crew short bed and thus have a Retrax Pro mx up for sale if anyone's interested.  I live on long island, ny and the truck is being traded in two weeks.  I'm going to be sad, but I can't have more than one large auto payment and it's the wife's turn to get something new.  $1200 neg.

I installed a rollbak cover back in February.

Tbe cover is overall made of ok materials. The can inside the bed is wavy and not the best but it can’t be seen.  The actual rolling/top cover is very nice and held up well in a hail storm that golf balled the rest of my truck. So kudos for toughness.

As many of the reviews I read online, my cover has started to roll up by itself anytime I hit a bump. It used to just be major pot holes but now it’s rolling up so frequently I have to tie off the pull strap to keep it closed.

Great idea and I love the versatility but I’d go with a roll n lock next time if I were ever to need to buy another cover.

Agricover has great customer service for the Lomax.  I had one of the very first Lomax covers when they were introduces in Sept of 2016.  It had some issues with leaks.  Also had minor issues when folding back down to cover the bed where the latch jammed.  Plus the liner was coming apart.  I called Agricover recently.  They sent me another Lomax cover.  Here are some of the improvements I noticed.

- No More Leaks except for very small streaks

- The latch was redesigned and closing the cover is much much better.

- Redesigned brace that holds the cover in position when folded.  Much better design

- Has safety retention hook straps in the event the cover is folded and comes loose while driving

I can safely say I really like the Lomax now, especially since the leaking issue has improved so drastically.

I hope you got the Rollbak cheap, it's been discontinued for a while now.

I paid $700 or so for it. Given it’s faults and the price I have no real complaints.  If I remember correctly everything I was looking at was around $1200 maybe?

Retail is about $1800 painted and installed with remote unlock. I'm a dealer, so I got it for much less than that.

I recently installed my Lomax, and I'm very pleased so far!  Summary:

Customer service: 1 of the rails had a slight scratch in it, I called them, and they sent me 2 ENTIRE rail assemblies!

Install: very easy. I'm used to having to tweak a cover's rails, etc to get them to work properly initially, but this one latched perfectly the first time.

Look: very low profile, super slick looking.  The powder-coated (?) aluminum panels might scratch, but no issues so far.

Folding: unlatch works easily, and panels fold easily too.  Latching the fully folded group to the front works ok, but could be improved a bit.

I do wish I could "hinge" the folded group of panels up vertically like the BakFlip, but that would prob change their design too drastically.

Weight: I have a full 6.5' bed, so when I remove the Lomax it's a bit heavy/awkward to handle alone, but I don't fully remove it often so no big issue.

Leaks: no leaks yet, but only a couple average rain storms so far.

Cost: affordable, all things considered.  $715 delivered   (TruckAlterations.com)

    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
    • Monday looks like a good day for the dealer to test an ac issue. Hopefully it all turns out good.
