Just finished my headlights. Added Diode Dynamics switchbacks, blacked out the housing, and frosted/tinted the LED lenses. Pleased how they turned out.

Oh yeah those are tinted. For about 6 months I've had the Lamin-x headlight film on my headlights and fogs. It looked ok until I could finally paint my headlights. I left the film on the fogs until I can get the Morimoto XB fogs.

Did you remove or change/paint the 3157 marker/turn signal? I thought those would have illuminated with the amber switchback LEDS

Yes, I painted over the amber marker/turn signal. Although, I left the bulb in there so my blinkers wouldn't hyperflash.

I have zero loss of light now that I painted the inside of the lights. This leaves the projector unobstructed and I get full brightness with my Morimoto HID kit on stock projectors. However when I had the Lamin-X film tints on, this did affect my headlights but I was still able to see well thanks to my HIDs.

Ouch that was silly. And not street legal any more you need to have amber marking lamp mark the outside dimension of your vehicle at night. Good luck I mean I hope you dont get called on it but you totally could be. I think it is silly that the white LED would not count personally but they have to be amber according to FMVSS article 108 (vehicle exterior lighting), which really needs to be updated but alas government moves way too slow. I believe the reflector is also a requirement.

Edit: Just double checked to see if you could add like marker lamps on the mirrors and comply but alas they have to be affixed to the permenent structure of the vehicle you can have additional ones but you have to have at least one on each corner affixed to vehicle itself. Bet most cops do not know that bit though

Cracking those open again to fix that will not be fun. Fingers crossed

From Article 108:

SIDE MARKER LAMPS Lamps which show to the side of the vehicle, mounted on the permanent structure of the vehicle as near as practicable to the front and rear edges to indicate the overall length of the vehicle. Additional lamps may also be mounted at intermediate locations on the sides of the vehicle.

Did you plast dip the grill and bumper? Or paint the bumper and dip the grill? one looks more glossy then other...either way looks good. I originally blacked out my whole front end too but missed chrome so took the dip ooff now I just have the chrome insert black.

how hard was the headlight mod?

You have to swap out the LED boards in the headlamp which mean cracking open the whole thing, using a dremel to remove OEM and gluing in the new ones. Then you put it all back together. Not for amateurs that is for sure.

This video only shows the last step and they have already removed and cracked open (or more likley for thier purpose bought one that was never installed)

Went to a local topper dealer and ordered the ARE Z series cap for my 2016 ccsb. Can't wait till it comes in. They said 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.

Installed a Lund Bed Extender. Not something I was planning on getting but for $50 at Princes Auto (Canadian version of Harbour Freight) it was tough to turn down. I just had to add some washers and longer bolts to shim out the bed mounts so it would clear my Truxedo Lo Pro tonneau cover.

They also had the Bedstep 2 for $75 but I really don't need a step on the side, I can reach right in the bed.

Just curious, what are caps like that going for these days ballpark? I also have a 16 crew short bed.
