No. I purchased the GM echomaster -intellihaul front kit. I know there are kits that are cheaper, but I didn’t want to mess with programming anything.

Two weeks in and so far it’s been flawless. I’ve seen virtually no MPG change but I attribute that to using all 8 gears now. Love this thing.

I emptied my catch can after only 100 miles after relocating it to the fender...virtually no water (condensation) but it smells slightly of gasoline. Oil still looking good after 1500 miles.

Installed some footwell lighting this morning in 25°F weather. Super happy with the way it turned out. I tapped into the dome light wire in the BCM so they dim on and off with the doors opening/closing.

 

I used this kit from Amazon for $15.99. The modules seem to be of really nice quality and come with 3M backing tape and hardware to mount; plus 16' of wiring harness.  

 

Now I'm planning on using the remaining eight modules in the bed, but I'm not sure about where to tap into -- any advice? I've seen some tap into the reverse lights so they come on when unlocking the truck and others buy the wiring harness for the factory lights...can I tap into into something that is always on back there and mount a switch somehow? Thanks for any ideas!

 

Oh, and I also did the H9 and 9011 headlight modifications last night in conjunction with my fogs always on mod. Looking great!

If my wife caught me draining my catch can in her Pyrex, I wouldn't be on this forum anymore.

LOL...that’s funny! My girlfriend about had a fit when I showed her the picture...but I covered my butt! I bought it from Walmart just for this purpose :D The pic is kind of misleading, it’s small. I was going to get some aluminum pie pans but this was in the same isle. Was less than $5 so I grabbed it. Since I mounted my catch can off the fender over the spare battery tray, a water bottle doesn’t work. Here is a pic so you can see it’s pretty small. Thanks for the laugh :thumbs:

Nice never seen those before. I think I'd be worried about them sliding/vibrating on the paint though with a heavier pod on there

Nice Phil!  Do you have anything recorded on the sound from the new Borla exhaust?  I have the 4.3, and have a new muffler but no growl.  I also noticed I have the same 22" wheels as you on my truck!  Love them!

Here is a pic of my truck.  I just upgraded the wheels to the 22x9 wheels to factory GM black wheels.  I also put new 305/40/22 tires with it.  It's s a 4x2 but gave it a little beefier look.  The final thing (with the help of Phil and his wiring harness) was put new leather out of a 2017 Special Ops edition Silverado that had been wrecked with only 1700 miles on it.  It's black carbon fiber with red stitching to match the red (Corvette Grand Sport) stripes I put on the truck.

      Folks, Have a great new 2026 WT  (std cab, 2.7/4WD) w/base 40/20/40 mech adj bench "fake buckets"  (with lower and upper center console) heavy vinyl seats.  Overall the seats are very comfortable and the vinyl is heavy and appears less likely to 'split out'. Am very tall (6'5")  + a bad back/osteporosis/former hyperparathyroidism so ease/range of movement is a bit restricted.  The truck rides a bit high and I use a nerf step bar w/my left foot to step in, then I put right foot/leg in, drag my butt in  & get seated.  Worked fine in my 2018 RAM quadCab. But I end up dragging my butt over the left raised sidecushsion area of vinyl seat, and due to texture there's fair amount of traction on slide inward.  (ArmorAll didn't improve.) If the seat were even ~1/2" - 3/4" lower it'd be helpful, but base seats just have the forward/backward underseat bail and the side lever for tilt which really doesn't affect seat height.   I really don't want to 'de-puff' the left side sidecushion forming the  fake 'bucket'. I know one company sells 'seat elevator blocks':  but is there a simple way of lowering the height of the driver seat instead?   Thanks Bill W San Jose

      I have a basic 2026 1500 WT  (2.7L/4WD reg cab shorttbed). Comfy, generally happy with electronics/radio - but is there a way I can add switches to steering wheel right-side position (curr. empty) so I can adjust volume, push phone button to voice dial, etc? Bill W San Jose

      The curb weight on a 1 ton crew cab long bed is around 7k lbs.  Now, I don't know where you went to school but 9k is not more than 2x 7k lbs. More than 2x 7k lbs would be 14k+.   With that said, obviously yes you're going to feel a 9k lb trailer when slowing down.  I already said, when accelerating.  When changing lanes?  No.  But if you look at the context of what was quoted, the original person said, "after a mile or two..." which means that would be after the accelerating portion and you're driving a generally steady pace.  Please do learn to read and comprehend.

      Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.
