I have a 2014 Silverado White Diamond and am considering doing the front and rear bowties. Does anyone think this would work on the door handles and mirror caps as well and hold up?

About to make your day, at least for the bowties:

My old thread about Pearlizer plastidip..it matches GM White Diamond perfectly. The bowties will obviously be fine, not sure how the handles would hold up over time and the mirror caps would work well and last in my opinion...

Thank you for the link. I think i'm going to go ahead and do this. I've never done this before but from what I have read it seems fairly simple. If I were to screw up, how easily does the stuff come off? I've seen the take offs for sale on ebay from tonygreen but for what he wants for them I'm willing to give this a shot first. One last question, roughly how many cans of white and Pearlizer would I need to do the bowties and mirror caps?

Topics were combined (merged) to avoid overlapping discussions. Topic now encompasses modifying emblems with paint, plasti dip, vinyl, etc.

To answer your original post, other than buying aftermarket emblems, paint / plasti dip / vinyl are the three most common methods of coloring them.

It just pops off. If you look at my 2nd pic it shows where the tabs are. Grab a putty knife or something and push down on the centre of the tab one by one.

I figured it out after seeing what a pain in the ass taking the grill off was going to be.

Then Plast-dip it up and throw her back on, simple.

i brought my truck into the tint shop to get vinyl done and was devastated when they pulled it in and said they couldn't vinyl the emblems on the 14 due to the rigidness. Im too nervous to paint them myself.

plasti dip is your friend, if you don't like the way it looks just peel it off

It's cheaper than this way. Not sure I have a choice though if I want to match the blue.

Time to find a new shop. I got both my front and back emblems done with vinyl and they look great. Also a local dealership here in Houston has the vinyl done on all the trucks on the lot and all look good. jy6y5eju.jpg

Plasti dipped my emblem and grille. I did 5 coats on the emblems and 6 on the grille. Very easy and saved me a ton of money.

your truck looks great. i have the silver gmc double cab and was looking to go with black emblems as well
