Push button start??? No, no I want magnetic ride control, HUD, launch control and IRS....AND I will bitch about any SLT costing over 45,000....

Really, and they ask why do these things cost so much? Ram has this and this etc...well why did one not buy a ram? Guess...

It is a truck...not a Vette, Honda, Lexus etc... Rant over...

Another thing is the market and people keep demanding these options in turns creates a higher price for these vehicles. And IMVHO because of this has already priced these vehicles out logical reach for most guys. Do most guys still buy them sure, but at the end of the day theres not a whole lot of guys that truly make the money to be buying 50k trucks. Consider even a well equipped truck is now running 40k MSRP.

I'd just like to be able to use the switchblade style key, but the current setup works fine and is more secure to me.

Except they like to open when in your pocket.

If it is an option on the Tahoe, can we graft the modules over? I looked at the steering columns for both, the solenoid for the Tahoe that locks the steering mounts in the same place as the lock cylinder for the truck. I thought if I got the panel for the 4x4 and put my start/stop switch in that hole, then swap the door handles, do some programming and voila! Or no? I just want to know if it can be done, don't care how much it costs or if you think it's stupid, have respect for others opinions please.

I was hoping to see push button start on the 16's but noooo. It's not necessary but I love it on my wife's car. No more fumbling for a key when your hands are full. Just one of those things I didn't want until I had it for a while. Wish it had been an option, but I bet GM had a full plate trying to resolve quality issues.

PB start would be OK, but I do hate the flip key.

Our Sonata has flip key in the fob without PB start - this sucks as the whole fob is the back of the key. Personally, I like turning the key to start the truck - and I like that the GMC is still a fairly basic key with separate fob that fits nice in my pocket.

Forgot about the 4 antennas and wiring. Other than those in the handles. And a Different module that has 26 wires going to it.

So you would pretty much have to swap the whole dash harness for the new module huh? They don't put one harness in everything and just tape up the plugs that aren't used? They used to do that for fog lights and such....

I don't mind if the key is flip or not, but I would like the alarm controls to be integrated into the key fob at least, like Ford did until a few years ago. Prevents movement on the key if you have nothing on it. But I did have PB start on a Mercedes, and now neither the truck or the current Mercedes have it, and it used to be good. Not even because of the starting procedure, but because I could just walk up to the truck, not touch my keys, and the driver's door would unlock for me. I liked that.

Test drove a new Yukon today with the wife and it has Keyless entry and push button start! WTH!!! My 14 Sierra SLT does not have this. I will be trading mine in on a 15 if they have it!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Problem I've had with puh button start is had it on two cars with quiet exhaust was getting to work and leaving vehicle without turning it off came back out for lunch and found car still idling. For me the key is the way to go.

I have 2 with push button 2 without, push button wins. As far as forgetting to turn it off, open the doors with it running things get loud hearing it is no problem and i am half deaf.

We are all entitled to our own opinions and just for the record... I have yearly exams and hearing tests with no hearing deficiencies reported, Thank you.

I didn't realize I was talking to you, did I hit quote by mistake? I intended to relate personal experience, being hearing challenge at times, feel better?

Couple of things...not all of these work the same and they will get better as time goes on.

1. My wife's Lexus beeps at you if you walk away from the car and it's running. If you don't hear the engine you will hear the beep.

2. The fob battery is a maintainence item. You should change ithe battery every 2 years.

3. I doubt that the RFID chip can be copied by a drive by. It's got a very low range. Maybe copy it if you are near someone like in a parking lot but I haven't seen any theft reports. I suppose that's next though.

I don't see the push button start as having any more issues than a key. After using a key for year, it takes some time to adjust but after 5 years I find the key to be awkward.
