Hi i have a 2009 Silverado 1LT ext cab. i add steering wheel controls to my truck(i purchased a brand new right button assembly and the harness that runs behind the air bag from cruise to stereo control assembly. after adding them my cruise control started acting funny(i had to tap the brakes several times to get the cruise to engage, and also the misc ignition fuse under the hood would pop imediately after putting a new one in? can someone tell me what went wrong? :help::dunno:

IN ADDITION: the other while driving down the road. my truck went into LIMP mode displaying (SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAC, and the Check engine light was blinking) i pulling into the advanced auto parts and had the codes pulled the read mulitple misfires, misfires cylinder 7, low voltage brake/cruise sensor switch. i unpluged the stereo controls, put the new fuse into the misc ignition slot, and switched the coil pack from 5 to 7 and cleared the codes NO issues since 3days now? WTHECK is going on. ive heard some many people doing this modification and not having a single issue. what gives in my case?

Hi 09BlackBetty,

I see that you are having electrical issue with your Silverado. I understand that you are looking to fix this issue yourself. I am sorry that you are in this current vehicle situation. I might not be able to provide you any technical advice but I would be happy to look into this and discuss this issue further.

If you were not blowing fuses and having problems before you did the installation . Then if it were me I would start by pulling everything apart and while doing so look real close to see if something went wrong. If I didn't find anything. Then I would return it to the way it was before I started. To see if I created any problems that were not there before I started the installation.

@duelin, thats correct i didnt have any issues before currently its set back to NO stereo controls no problems since.....

@jennifer yes. i LOVE my silverado and wasnt able to afford the HIGH DOLLAR options when i first bought it but slowly added the ones i wanted. BOSE Nav., Back up camera and bluetooth onstar module(which the GM techs here say they cant program my VIN info into) if youd like to PM me. i would like to chat more and figure this issue out.

Doesn't the BCM have to be programed for the buttons? Perhaps that could cause some of these issues?

Perhaps the controls could could confuse the BCM. Maybe you should have the dealer program the BCM for the buttons then see what happens

I was hoping jennifer would chime in again. And help out. But I understand shes probably super busy.

My dealership is the dumbest ever, how they supposably are the presidents choice is un imaginable. If i took it to them they might burn my truck down to the ground

Same thing with the VCIM when I told them to input my VIN info into it they looked at me like I was stupid. I told them the vcim is a junk yard pull out from another chevy that wasnt a chevy silverado i think it was an equinox, so the module needed to be re-flashed to show it was a 2009 silverado and they said they had no idea how to do that or that it could be done.

BlackBetty,

Sorry, this is off topic...I've seen you mention in other posts you were looking to upgrade your VCIM to a later model to enable the remotelink app and bluetooth support. I have an '09 that came with bluetooth that appears to be no longer working. I'm contemplating replacement and wondering if you got the remotelink to work? If so, any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I got the app to work but it was showing completely wrong info.
