Bucket Seat Console Option - Modification

Hey Everyone,

New to the forum, recently purchased a 2014 Silverado with the split bench and leather seats. The leather and bucket combo was only available on the LTZs (according to my dealer) and I wasn't going to spend the additional money for just the one extra option I wanted. I've been researching removing the split bench middle "jump seat" and adding the factory console that comes with the bucket seat option. Has anyone attempted this or know much about it? I've searched around and looked online; there seems to be people on Ebay selling the jump seat alone but that's about it. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

1. that's not true. I test drove an LT with the center console and 8" touchscreen.

2. You can add it. It'll cost you around $700 or so to add it, there's a thread in the modifications section, one of our members did an awesome tutorial with a breakdown including photos of all the parts.

3. Everything will work, even the 110 outlet, theonly thing that WONT work is your front usb/sd card ports, and I'm not really sure why that is, different dash harness?

I would like you to the thread but chrome crashed on me today and I lost it, and now I can't find it. :banghead:

For me it's a "must do" project with a low priority. (Exterior mods first, cept for the bumper maybe.)

Awesome, thanks for the insight darkfox1, appreciate it. So you drove an LT with bucket seats AND leather? I had my guy search within a 500 mile radius and they couldn't find one.. I drove a few cloth seat LTs with with the buckets.

Well, now that I think of it, the truck DID have the center console, 8" touch screen and a lot of LTZ features, including power seats, but I do not believe they were leather.

I have katskinz leather in my truck, I'm happy with it.

It was at Steve Rayman Chevrolet in Marietta GA. They only had 1 like it, everything else was either loaded or stripped to the bone. I guess dealers assume you're either walking in carrying 2 huge sacks with dollar signs on them and wearing a top hat, or pan handling by the street corner. They don't have any "middle class" trucks anymore.

'14s were available with the full console and cloth seats. LT or Z71. Pickin's must be getting pretty slim though. Also available on '15s.

I really dont know why GM nitpicks like they do now.

I tried to buy an LT 6.2 and they kept telling me such an animal didn't exist. I argued with them. "all you gotta do is line up this body on the assembly line, with that powertrain."

Salesman kept saying "it doesn't work that way."

Uh.. well unless cars are put together by magic or they're cast in a single piece, that's EXACTLY how it works.

I think they're trying to limit the distribution of 6.2s to meet Cafe standards, that makes sense, maybe they just don't do a lot of custom bits/pieces and instead do "packages" to save on administrative costs at the plant?

My uncle's trying to buy a '15 2500HD in white diamond, and they keep telling him its not available on that body. IT'S THE SAME BODY! I don't even...

Just venting?....... I hope. Technically you are correct. How about white diamond and 6.2 in a work truck? Why not? It's all marketing. There are reasons for all of their wacky decisions. Probably wouldn't agree with most but they don't call me and ask. Some suit that has probably never driven a truck making decisions. I tried building a new Colorado on Chevrolet.com. To add the "$1050 Luxury pkg" you have to add another $1000 in options to get it. Why not just say that the Luxury pkg is $2050?

Gm did it with the last gen trucks too, first little bit top of the line only then they let it get into the lower trim levels, who knows if they'll do it this time around though.

Tell me about it, I don't understand it either. I would've been happier than a pig in **** if I could of put a 6.2 with 3.73s in my RCSB 2014. Nothing wrong with the 5.3, I just had to modify it to get the power I wanted. It's the same story with the F150, 5.0 or ecoburst only.
