Was the steering wheel hard to remove?

Not hard at all. Air bag was a bit tricky until I got the knack of it. I used my phone camera on selfie setting so I could see what I was doing from behind the wheel.

I have my wheel and clock spring. Just so I understand... the clock spring will have a connector that plugs into a loom under the dash by the BCM?

Yes. The plug is already there taped to the harness. If you remove the kick panel under the steering column it's straight in front of you.

Thanks to all that have contributed to this thread. The photos and descriptions helped tremendously.

I did the swap today and all is well. I have a 2016 LT, CCSB truck and swap was pretty straight forward. Took about 1.5 hours. Probably would have taken an hour had I not reinstalled the same wheel.

Removing the airbag wasn't as hard as I thought once I found the square hole. LOL. I used the front facing camera of my iPhone to guide me. The flat head to pry it off goes toward to the top of the square hole and you pry the pin downward (so screwdriver upwards). Once the airbag was off, I worked on wheel removal. This uses spark plug socket. Wheel took a little muscle to pull off so make sure you disconnect the connector to the clock spring.

The retaining clip to remove the clock spring was a PITA.

Running the harnesses down to their location was a breeze.

This bar is what you are prying on to remove.

Yep. Once you get that booger retainer clip off, it slides right out. You have to make sure harness zip tie is cut off and disconnected down below so you have slack to pull the clock spring out.

Still trying it figure out how to reinstall the upper/lower column plastic shroud thing. Just isn't lining up.

Anyone who has installed a heated wheel, does it only heat up on the upper portion only? Also doesn't seem very warm.

Reading this thread may allow me to buy a lower level truck and not have to spend so much on a Lutz model or Slit. I can have my cloth seats and heated wheel and like it!

I did the same swap and after plugging in it wouldn't work. Did you have to do any programming?

I did not have to reprogram anything. All worked fine as is.

No programming required. Just make sure you have the (2) Connections for the clockspring below like in the the photos.

Do you think it was worth the money and effort for this? I know you said yours just got a little warm and not hot.

It's weird. When I first installed it, only the upper half came on. Eventually, the bottom half got warm. Overall, im happy with it. Seems like it gets warm, stops, then gets warm again.

Trying to locate a clock spring, the number posted on this thread doesn't seem to match my truck. 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE the part #I come up with is 23193462 ; 22989630 anyone else able to confirm this?

Cheers
