Why I hate my 2014 Sierra

Gm is the only one without the vents in the back. Every damn truck has them.

Whining backseat drivers, let em be cold who cares about how comfortable they are anyways. Seriously if you point the center dash vents to the middle of the truck they will be fine, no one ever got frostbite sitting behind me in one of my vehicles in over 40 years.

I completely agree with the throttle complaints the original post mentioned. I went from a Tundra to a 14 Sierra and was really disappointed in how hard I have to push down the throttle to get the truck moving forward. It does feel weak until you get about 30% into the throttle. My tundra barely took any pressure and it felt a lot better. My wife has a 2012 GMC Terrain and the throttle in that is just as tight and snappy as my tundra was. I get in her v6 Terrain and feel like its quicker and more powerful than my V8 sierra. I'd say my biggest let down so far for me with the sierra is the gas pedal. I've had it for a month and I'm still not used to how much pressure it takes on it. With stop and go city driving I really hate the pedal.

I just used the AC seats yesterday for the first time and was also blown away that the exhaust vents for the ac seats blow hot air right in the face of a potential back seat passenger. I couldn't believe it. I originally thought those vents were standard hvac vents that blew air in the back. I drive by myself most of the time so it shouldn't matter much. But I can see going on a road trip with a full car and not being able to use the ac seats because any of my friends behind me would complain about having hot air blown at them when I'm pumping my AC.

I agree on the throttle response as well, been testing it out here lately and there is a good delay even when you gun it. Likely going the Black Bear tune route at some point regardless of warranty, look for a dealer that is known to handle trucks with tunes. The software seems to be really handicapping the engine to me at least.

Mine are under the seat, with the center vents no problem, the Texas heat roast pretty good no complaints last summer.

im sorry but you're stupid if you'd buy an older truck over a new one, because of vents in the back. no one is going to go back to kt5xx or whatever the hell for rear seat vents.

that being said, its a HUGE issue. Why buy a crew cab? Because you have people sit there. I most certainly CAN cool the back, but it should not be on the same vents as the front. Why put vent open/close controls on each vent up front? because the passenger wants to control their air flow. Why have dual temperature sensor? same reason.

the no rear seat vents is a huge issue, but not big enough i'd trade my 2014 for a 2005. I promise it sure cost GM some buyers though. This is 2014 not 2005. every dealership i visited and brought up the issue stated they had many many complaints, and even put it forward to GM when the engineers came out to demo the new sierra's. and texas heat is nothing to nevada or arizona, but i've had my truck in all three climats and its insufficient without freezing the front passengers or over heating the back.

That's what I'm saying. It's not as convenient to some as having vents back there, but far from a dealbreaker. Cars didn't have rear vents for years, even Suburbans and the like, but people made do. Maybe they'll add them with an MCE. Along with that 1/2 ton diesel!

GM had cooled seats in the 07-13s?

Yes sir, I can't tell you what year they started to implement them but my guess is around 2010. I only said 7-13 because that was the NNBS bodystyle, compared to 1999-2003?/2003-2007c & 2014+

I think they started in 11... I know all Denalis HD came with cooled seats starting in 11. Also confused why the K2 truck cooled seats blows hot air in the back when my GMT900 cooled seats do not blow any sort of air let alone hot air from anywhere.. And they work great

Ah okay, yes my dad had a 12 Sierra with cooled seats but my 2011 didn't. Can you confirm if the hot air blows out of that vent located at the very bottom of the seat? That's where I was guessing they blew the air out. If not maybe K2's are using a new method to cool the seats "better" ?

I know the vent you speak of.. No air is blown or felt coming out of the vent with the AC seats on max or the heated seats. They function as they should.

Wow, after driving my SS Silverado for 10 yrs I figured it was time. But after reading this write up im really disappointed. I was looking at 2015 sierra Denali. My wife has a 2012 Yukon Denali the brake and gas pedal offset is too much. Maybe I will take another look at the Ram Longhorn. Good write up thank you.

Do your due diligence and check the forums for critical owners of the Ram or the Ford. They are everywhere. Remember, only unhappy people write reviews, in general.

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.
    • Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
