Why I hate my 2014 Sierra

Yeah I've had my front bumper repainted within a year and also a few spots touched up around the cargo light and tailgate handle. GM paid for that one.

Also, getting a lot of moisture in my cargo light - I really think there's something wrong here because it is the only guard from moisture and weather entering the cab and attacking the headliner.

Wow really, they have some issues for sure but I love mine except for the headlights, and my link screen not being on a different dimmer then the dash

I agree on a lot of issues covered but some are being picky and you have the wrong angle on some issues.

The throttle response I agree is weird - yet when I adjust the pedal up to it's "higher" point the throttle response is overwhelming. I havent felt any deflection in my pedals though.

The headlights are not great - HIDs fixed this for me. Cheap and simple fix which I would of done on any vehicle with a projector.

The touchscreen is very laggy and has multiple(endless?) errors. Needs a total re-vamp.

The space in a double cab is useless unless you never put a full size person in the backseats - ever.

I find the accelerator pedal position is good yet the brake is WAY too far offset from the gas pedal - therefore I have to actually lift my whole leg to get to the brake as opposed to just moving my foot. Again I think this is for safety reasons to you can't be on both pedals at the same time but it is just a little excessive.

Transmission issues are very present. 2nd gear slams on downshift and upshift isnt smooth either. I also have a drivetrain squeek which has been looked at by several GM technicians on 4 different occaisons and still persists to this day.

My V4/V8 mode transition is as smooth as I would ever expect. You feel it but ever so slightly just to feel the power again.

Brakes are fine in my truck.

One thing you didn't mention was the overall ride and suspension...

I find my truck rides a little rough, granted I do have 10ply BFK AT KO's, the suspension should react better on the front end, and the @ss end of the truck dances too much for my liking. With absolutely no weight I can hit a small pothole and I will get a large sway in the truck, especially in the tail section.

If I had to do it all over again, I don't think I would have made the purchase knowing these things. I honestly don't know what truck I would choose if I had to do it again...

Load range E tires on a 1500!?

Do you tow?

I guess some tires are only available in E, but you should consider finding a different option.

That has everything to do with the ride quality. My buddy has a Tahoe and when he put lr E mud terrain tires on it, the ride went to shit. My dually at 80psi rode better because it's heavier even though he keeps them at 35 psi.

In my climate and terrain there's a limited selection of tires I have to perform well overall. The BFG's do, and more the nature of the truck I was referring to. I drove the truck with the stock SR-A's and didn't find a huge difference.

I can put up with a rougher ride for the traction/towing/durability purposes though.

I can agree for the throttle response. I too bought a 2014 Toyota Tundra. I put 15,000 miles on it and towed my 7,500 pound you hauler with no issues. After a year of owning the yota while talking to someone at the has station they offered to buy my truck cash. I hesitated a week and took the deal. He bought my truck for what I paid a year prior and allowed me to go buy my GM again. I have had 4 pickups and 3 tahoe/yukons. After about 6,000 miles my truck seems to learn my driving and I have no complaints but one. Sometimes in traffic I go to punch it and let off and the rear diff or the tranny clunks loud. I also have a small whistle when I punch it that sounds like a turbo. I only hear that when I am stopped and punch it! As you can tell I love to punch it! One my warranty is up I am getting it tuned. 28ac446cd41815db05bad6639ff55e06.jpg

Fortunately, I have not experienced the same issues on my 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 with exception of the heated seats. Mine has been in twice for failed heating elements on both the seat and seat back. It is fixed but they don't heat anywhere near as good as any other vehicle that I currently have or have had in the past.

I feel your pain jgedde. I have a 14 SLT with just about every bell and whistle and my first and main gripe is the head lights. To the poinht I wont drive the thing at night for any long distance.

They suck next to the Silverdao. Wish I could have driven one at night before ordering but who would have thought. During the summer my dealership closes before it gets dark.

So I have some of the same gripes as you. I have over 17,000 miles on mine now.

Numbers, 1,5,6,7,8,and 11.

Went in to talk a friend at the dealership and while there just asked them to see what they would give me for my pickup on trade. Wow, never thought it would drop that much in depreciation, offered me 28,500 trade in on a 2015 Silverdato Z71 CC. Would get the Silvy at a good price but would lose way too much on my pickup.

Should be a button to turn off the screen push to turn off and push to turn on. And not have to go in the system to turn it off. Dimming it down does help the headlights alittle but that makes the gauges to dim for me. Ram has had to button the turn off their screen since 2013 Gm needs to take notes.

Your not alone about the throttle response (lag) read my posts.

Yes u can turn the screen off, just found that out and it really helps, but u should still be able to separate it from rest of gauges, my buddies 07 avalanche can

I just got a 2015 a month ago and I don't like the throttle response either...much different than the 2013...

last weekend, wife and I were going out, and took her 2004 Tahoe...I spun the tires in the driveway turn around and pulling out on the road...

after I got "the look", I had to explain how different these two vehicles are...

LOL i can just imagine, especially when someone doesn't understand.

I drove my buddies 09 with a superchips programmer and intake/exhaust and I don't think he will ever let me touch it again - needless to say it didn't see below 4000rpm

Some issues are just small minor issues that bother some and not others, and some models regardless of the manufacture has their querks, no truck is without fault. I cant say I hate my truck, but two things mentioned I find to be a problem as well.

The infortainment system, it looks nice but thats about as far as it goes. Its bulky as in how to use it, defaults to stupid screens when it shouldnt or doesnt default when it should. The system really isnt as intuative as it should be. What bothers me the most is changing stations from the steering wheel, it tends to shoot to far or not shoot at all so I dont even use the steering wheel anymore. Also the volume you have to hit it once for mute then hold down to turn it off, really whats the point.

Second the transmission I think is good, but its programmed redicuously, seems lazy to me, gets stuck in gears etc. I know I could tune it, but Im not dealing with the hassle or spending money to fix a factory issue, not to mention while in warranty Im not messing with the computer.
