Stuck in 4wd

Not sure if this problem has been mentioned here but I had a problem this morning. My truck was in auto 4wd and after a short stop I got back in it and it was in 4wd hi. The message center came up with "service 4wd". The 4wd knob didn't work either. After about 30 minutes at the dealer it was fixed.

I was told there is a new recall to reprogram transfer case shift control module. My paperwork shows it as recall # 14616. They told me I would probably be getting the notice soon and to disregard it since mine was done.

there is a thread about his. there is also a tsb about this. the tsb basically tells the service technician to reset the computer b/c they are working on a fix (unless they have found a fix by now) also you cannot leave your truck in auto 4wd or 4wd hi/lo and park when it is below freezing. you have to put it in 2wd and then turn off the truck and when you turn the truck back on you have to put it back in the desired function that you want.

Where does this state you cant leave it in below freezing. Common sense tells me that most people use 4WD when there is snow, which means below freezing. The manual doesnt state this I beleive. So where did you get this.

It's not in the manual....it's a problem we're having with our trucks. I had my truck over at the dealers and they reprogrammed my tccm and told me while they are waiting for GM to come up with a fix for locking in 4wd that I had to put it in 2 wd and shut it off or the problem will come back....apparently the freezing temperatures are causing the problem!

Where does this state you cant leave it in below freezing. Common sense tells me that most people use 4WD when there is snow, which means below freezing. The manual doesnt state this I beleive. So where did you get this.

right, people do use 4wd in snow which is where / why they are having this problem, hence the tsb about it. this is not a "normal" function and they are currently working on a fix.

the link dosent work im having this issue now is there somthing i can do without going to the dealer
