2014 Silverado .. What's this slot for? Onboard ATM?

I have no idea what this slot is for and haven't been able to find anything, elsewhere. It would take a credit card.

 

The horizontal slot above the headlight switch and below trailer brake controls.

On 4wd trucks that's where the knob is. I'm not sure why they would leave a slot there though

I had pulled the trim off, before. It didn't have any wires or connectors, but it did have a framework with a stainless steel clip within. If I had to guess, I'd say "it's to hold a credit card". I don't travel toll roads often and i usually pay with cash. But, if they take credit card payments, it would hold the card securely. ?? One of the engineers used every spot he could find to put a compartment of some kind.

Yes its for a card slot. For work I need an access card in order to get into the parking garage, I keep it in that slot. Quite convenient actually. And yes it does hold it very securely.

I think I read somewhere that is a business card holder.

that is where your 4wd switch is suppose to be... for some reason you are missing it!

It is a convenient place for parking lot / garage pass cards. My salesman said he uses it to hold his credit card when going through drive ins (which he just do a lot").

Brutal for business cards, they get all messed up. Great for gas cards

I think its a card slot for topping up your Onstar, XM radio and 4G Wifi...just leave your credit card in there.

Holy cow - I was too timid to ask about that slot but I'm so glad to see there's an actual purpose for it. I've been afraid to put my parking garage card in there for fear it would just eat it! Ha.

Thought it was for the card for the satellite so you could watch the game while in the truck!
