"Easter Eggs" on your Silverado that you just found out

My Oakley Radar glasses are a NOGO.....But it is a convenient place to keep the keys for my travel trailer.

I have 7,100 miles in 2 months running long distances from 65 to 97 mph with the smoothest ride I have ever felt in a truck. Headed out today for a 1,900 mile round trip....

I haven't paid close enough attention but I wonder if it just the same handful of people taking every opportunity to complain about their vibration problems. In other words, this site has a VERY vocal minority when it comes to issues.

Hey here's to wishful thinking - I'm not making this up and neither is anyone else - I've owned TWO 2014 GMC's, both vibrated, how many have you had? My close friend is on his THIRD, 2 buy backs, now into a lease - all 3 vibrate (the new leased one is an 8 speed denali, tranny issues to boot), A GM engineer and service Mgr. both admitted they are having significant amount of warranty issues because of the vibrations and they both basically told me "no fix, engineering flaw, ALL of the new trucks are "designed" to have this vibration" - its a widespread problem and it'll eventually come to the national stage.

I have an "easter egg" for you though - there's a vinyl wrapped steel cable you can access as an additional hook/strap point through the back window attached to the center back seat. comes in helpful for extra center security when tying something down.

Maybe it is wishful thinking on my part. I haven't bought yet and really want to get a silverado or sierra. I see the "how satisfied are you with your 2014" thread and there are ~435 that claim to have no problems compared to 115 that say they have problems. Not all of those problems are vibration issues. Considering the fact that internet forums are inundated with people who have a problem and want to ask questions about it or vent about it, the real life numbers probably look much different than 26% of owners having problems. Even if we use 26% and say that all 26% have vibration problems, then 74% do not and therefore they aren't "designed" to have this vibration. Now, 26% "problem rate" is incredibly high and unacceptable. I am not arguing that, I am merely saying that there are hundreds of thousands more 2014-15 GM 1500 trucks that DON'T have issues than DO have issues.

So yes, considering that I really want to be one of the 74%, I may have some wishful thinking about my future purchase and I hope thorough test drives will help me be one of those 74% when I do buy. However, reading this forum has caused me to expand my research a little bit and I have made up my mind that I will at least test drive an F150. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places but the ford forums don't seem to have nearly as many people complaining about "widespread issues".

EDIT: OP, sorry for derailing your very cool thread. When I do buy, these "easter eggs" will come in handy.

Tell me more about this minority when there is a sticky thread covering the vibration issues dating back to August 2013 with over 331 pages and 540,000 views and still going strong.

Also, the F150 forums are far more active then these are. You can go over there and get a pretty good idea of some of the issues the newer models are having. So far they seem to be relatively minor, like doors not being properly aligned, which dealers can fix, and the upper backs on seats not cooling properly.

4963 total posts in that thread. On the last page alone 5 out of 14 were from one member. I have viewed the thread 15-20 times and I don't even own a GM vehicle, much less a 2014-15 1500. I am not sure that we can draw any conclusions about frequency of problems from that thread.

Good point about the F150 forums. In my research I have seen many of the threads that you mentioned and there seems to be a lot less extrapolating going on on those forums than here. (My truck shakes so all 14-15 silverados suck, etc).

It does suck for people to have such troubles. I will say I've owned my '15 SLT since November and it hasn't had one single issue so all these complaints could have been addressed and fixed for the new model year or I just got lucky. Either way I couldn't be more satisfied with my GM Truck.

+1...Silverado owner since August 2013..just a few minor issues that were all fixed by my dealer. No vibration, though. Great truck. One of the lucky ones...

Really sucks when there are bad issues.

I took mine in to the dealer with vibrations issues..... Force balanced, new wheel, and new tire done/installed. Minor but still noticeable.

Don't flame me but I expected something like this going from Japanese to American.....

It does suck for people to have such troubles. I will say I've owned my '15 SLT since November and it hasn't had one single issue so all these complaints could have been addressed and fixed for the new model year or I just got lucky. Either way I couldn't be more satisfied with my GM Truck.

this. I've posted it here a ton of times, I have one one of the really early 2014 builds (from Mexico), 6/20/13. Other than the standard recall nonsense and what I consider subpar gas mileage (14.3 MPG, 70% city, 30% highway), I've never been happier with a vehicle in my life. Luck on my part, some exaggeration on others, who knows. But there are folks with problems and I feel bad for them.

I don't know if it counts as an Easter egg exactly. But for us regular cab guys, the seats and console are the same as those used in trucks with a back seat. Which means that there are seat-back pockets, a shelf on the bottom of the back of the console, and a charger port on the back of the console (not sure if it's powered). I use the shelf as an easily accessible "out of sight" spot.

See.... I told you that the "my truck vibrates" crowd would do their best to derail your thread! Apparently they don't believe the concept of "On Topic" applies to them. Seriously, it's doubtless incredibly frustrating and I feel for you guys, but for crying out loud, if you MUST post 400 times about your vibrator, at least do the huge majority of us a favor and POST IT IN THE APPROPRIATE THREAD(S) so the 74% of us can read about it only if and when we choose. I'm getting kind of sick of reading about Vibrators in half of the threads here.

My truck shakes, shimmys, and rolls!!!

My easter egg is when everyone that rides in my truck the first time they wonder what that black button does on my roof console. When they push it, my sliding rear glass window slides open. They think thats pretty cool.

If you've got the key in the ignition and the driver's door open, and the chime bugs you, if you leave door open and remove and reinsert the key, the chime stops. I haven't figured out how to do it with the radio on though.
