Both, neither was any help at all. The dealers hands are tied because GM claims there isn't a problem,.

GM say's take it to dealer, dealer states no problem found.

According to GM I am one of only a handful to complain.

I am driving a 2016 Denali for the next few days, if it performs I will buy it and be happy. If not Ford will get my business from now on.

I have been buying a new GMC truck every 9-12 months since 1984, 37 in all, the last 2 suck big time.

2015 just hasn't been my year for boats, corvettes and trucks,, had trouble with all three this past year.

Same story here...both dealership and Gm act like I am the only one with this problem...service manager told me his dealership sells a lot of trucks and he services a lot of vehicles daily, but nobody has transmission complaints...He is full of it because I know of three people who have taken there trucks there multiple times with same problems I do..The Gm customer Care person who took my case won't even call me back..I have left 2 messages in the past week and nobody calls back...somebody named Kim and Vern....I read on the consumer affairs website they have had same luck with these 2 people...lots of pages of complaints on there website too!!!!Cant wait to take my truck to another Gmc dealership to see what crap they tell me!

I have a tripledose of the A8 problems.

2 2015 Denalis and a 2015 Corvette. Luckily the corvette gets replaced Monday with a ZO6.

Go over to corvetteforums.com and read for days about our issues with the A8..

My attorney spent 30 minutes today collecting data, he says its more than enough to get thru this.

He is a Ford fan and cannot believe these issues are so far reaching with such little help from GM.

I can only speak for myself, but enough is enough.

No!.....Your right enough is enough....For the last 7 years I owned a Toyota Tacoma and a Tundra TSS...not a problem with either...I had been wanting a Gmc so I went for it...gosh I made a poor decision...What a mess this has been..Spoke with a attorney friend of mind and he is going to build a case...while making copies of the work that has been done by the dealership on my truck I came across a bulletin that was given to me by the service manager from GMC on how to service my truck for the hard shifting and clunking problem..why do they keep telling me there is no issues with the 8 speed transmission..when Gmc is sending out bulletins to correct the problem!my wife was even thinking of getting the new Yukon Denali but after seeing what I'm going through..she said no thanks I will stick to Lexus...She has owned three and not a single problem..Lots of people complement my truck...and don't get me wrong I really liked my truck in the beginning especially the 6.2 liter....GMC has failed me as a customer!

UPDATE:

The 2016 Denali I test drove for over 200 miles performed perfect, yet they are still telling me my clunking and delayed engagement on mine is "normal".

After informing the service manager that I had fixed 1 of my other denali's problems he stated GM has no fix for now.

Drove straight to the Ford dealer and traded it in for a KIng Ranch F-150, my first Ford vehicle. (Yes I told the Sales Manager why I was trading in, he is sending it to the auction)

UPDATE on the truck I fixed:

It is working flawlessly after 880 miles. Also, we have acquired ALL of the warranty claims history on this truck. There was a claim for repair/procedure that were never done to my vehicle. The plot thickens. I notified the dealer that this was fraudulent yet no one from GM has returned a call or even contacted me via this forum, that is very troubling,

2015 Corvette UPDATE:

Traded it for 2016 ZO6

Update:

After taking my truck to a 2nd dealership...these guys are actually telling me there is something wrong with my truck, not like the 1st one were I bought it. After three days at the dealership the service adviser called me today and said we are putting a brand new transmission in your truck..we have done all of GMC recommendations and it's still not shifting right. This dealership has treated me fair and has listened to all my concerns! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok after transmission is installed...

I have read numerous post about tranny issues with the GM A8, I too had small issues a the beginning when I first bought this truck and as those small problems got worse I took it to my local dealership who stated its normal but to bring it back if it gets worse.

It did get worse and to the point that when shifting from park to drive it would jerk forward hard especially when still cold. But even after it had warmed up it always had a slightly hard jerk and never smooth as it should be.

But this time I took it to a dealership close to my work and as I was talking to the service adviser through the window parked in the service line I had him witness it first hand as I put it into drive and it jerked forward hard. Right then he put me on the list to have the transmission looked at, and a week later when my turn came up, he called me in gave me a loaner (2016 CC PU with 9 miles on it) and then 3 days later it was ready to be picked up after from what he told me was 3 different upgrades to the TCM (transmission control module). That was 2 weeks ago and now my truck is shifting perfect like it should be. He did say that if those up upgrades to the TCM would not have corrected the problem then a new transmission was next.

Jim,

Did the updates correct the shift from park to drive and did you have a delay or clunking before the updates?

If you could post the procedure numbers that would help a lot of folks on here.

Hope things go well for you...All the updates done to my truck seamed to work for awhile but sooner or later it would go back to shifting hard....Still waiting for my truck with the new transmission....should get it tomorrow...keeping my fingers crossed

UPDATE:

Got my truck back yesterday with the new transmission they promised, It has performed without a flaw...no hard shifting or any clunking...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all stays that way.....I guess I will see if it holds up after a couple hundred miles...wish me luck!
