Cab size change and bed size change

So, I'm in a bit of a possible arrangement with GM regarding buy-back and swapping trucks due to my dreads vibration issue. With that said... I'm debating on going from my 2014 Sierra SLT Double Cab to a 2015 Sierra SLT Crew Cab. Main difference is bigger cab and 6' bed to a 4' bed (is that correct?)

I don't think a crew cab with 6' bed will fit as nice in my garage, so I'm alittle warty in that size.

Can you folks give some pros and cons to getting into a bigger cab (crew cab) and really, changing bed sizes.

Thank you!

That's an odd question. Usually people know what they need or prefer. I have a crew cab because I have two kids that often sit back there, and a crew cab has more room. If you don't have any kids to put in the back, or don't haul alot of stuff in the bed, it doesn't matter what truck you get, or maybe don't even need a truck.

There is two beds on crew, either 5ft.4in. or 6ft.6in.

The crew cab is a must in these trucks. Personally, anything less than a 6'6" bed is pointless. Good thing in this generation, you can get both without having to upgrade to a 2500HD. I would measure your garage, and see if a crew with a standard bed will fit.

Unless you are using it as a work truck and hauling "stuff" in bed everyday, I think the key is how often will someone be in rear seats and what are their ages/sizes.

Diagree, I have no need for a 6.6 bed, 5.8 or whatever it is works out great for me and my garage.

Never liked the look of the crew cab with the mini box. Just isn't proportioned right.

I'm the opposite, I've never liked the look of the crew with the standard bed - it looks way to long. Especially without being levelled. Just seams to accentuate the rake even more.

Its all a matter of opinion. Look at how often you wished you had the crew cab in the time you've had the double and how much stuff you put in the bed. Everyone's needs for a truck are different, and in this day in age when I say "need" for a truck, I use that loosely when it comes to some people. Me personally, no kids to haul, I went with the double cab simply for resale value over a regular cab and I got the standard 6'6" box and I'm completely happy with it. You've had a truck so you should have an idea of what you would want to change if anything. That's just two cents.

My current '14 GMC and '91 Chevrolet pickups are both Regular Cab - 8 Ft. Bed configuration. My wife has an SUV.

Jeremy - I never heard that a double cab has higher resale than a regular cab, but then I keep my trucks for a long time. I purchased the '91 in '94.

To the OP - Drive the different cab configs and see what you like. Bring 'em home to see what fits in the garage. Take your time.

I think this series of GM trucks is among the best. Good luck with your choice.
