2016 Sierra Denali ULTIMATE

This isn't exactly a new trend in executive truck packages. See the F150 Platinum with an overdose of bling and lesser tow and payload ratings. The Cowboy Up packages are all OTT as well.

When looking for the 6.2L with Max Tow setup on the Sierra, there were only 3 available in the Mountain West. I'd be happy if GM could just make functional headlights, presume that is the case for the 16's.

There's more folks driving these as soft daily drivers than work trucks these days. To each his own.

They should emboss the tailgate and bedazzle the lettering. Then I may be interested.

Lmao I use to smile at denalis but when I do see this one I will cringe knowning they're paying that price. Oh well as long as it ain't my wallet.

seems to me it's meant to go up against the F150 Limited truck.

I don't knock manufacturers for producing luxury pickups, or judge people with money that want luxury pickups. If you've got the coin and want something, then you should buy it. It's just funny to take a step back and look at how the pickup market has trended over the past 15-20 years. Bigger, taller, more external bling, and more interior gadgets.

The basic want/need/utility for a pickup is the same now as it was 15-20 years ago (towing, hauling, off road, etc.). But the desire for bells and whistles seems to have significantly increased, just as it has with electronics (computers, smart phones, tablets, etc.). I guess I'm just a simple guy, as I don't even have a smart phone, just a regular cell phone. When making a large purchase, I've learned to want what I want for a while, and really consider what features/options are useful and important to me. Regardless of my income, I hate to waste money on WOW stuff that I know I don't need and will probably get bored of after 6 months.

As much as we like to bitch about those that seem to spend more than 'we' do, the automakers build what the market buys.

Yes, there is always someone that says 'if they would just make xyzabc available I'd buy one' but how many base level reg cab trucks do you see being driven today?

There has always been a market for an upscale versions.

The chev vs the buick vs the cadillac.

If they've done their market research, the vehicle will sell and make them more money.

If everyone wanted exactly the same thing then there would be one version.

People knocking this truck but the same can be said for most of those who drive the SLT/LTZ trucks with off road packages and 20 inch wheels. It's image and persona over function and necessity.

Not a fan of ford but this compare to ford I believe ford trims like the platinum really does make up for its name

regular Denali and High Country compare to the Platinum. The F150 Limited adds 22's and power running boards, just like this Ultimate. Just my opinion...

Hey, it's a nice truck! Everyone's needs and expectations are different. Don't knock it because it's not so "rugged." My friend is a bit like me when he said....He had pickup for hauling stuff for home projects etc. Nothing huge, and a Ford Explorer for carrying people..He needs 4WD for snow. One "luxury" pickup fills his needs. It is utilitarian enough for light hauling, and certainly nice enough for trips with the family. One vehicle instead of two allows a guy to spend a bit more and get the nicest truck available. Maybe not your situation but this truck is a cool option for some of us, and I'm glad they offer it.

Looks nice, and well suited to those with stupid money that want a luxury pickup. It's probably $70k.

I could definitely go for a luxury car, but never understood the attraction to luxury pickups.

I guess I sorta feel that a pickup should have a little "ruggedness" to it. But that's me.

The 4 wheel drive, locking diff, 460 lb/ft tq, 10,000 lb towing capacity isn't "rugged" enough for ya? There's a truck for every buyer. I never understood the "sport truck" thing much - seems counter intuitive, but some people like those, I also think its odd to get a crazy lift & never use it offroad but lots of people do that too, and I think its REALLY dumb to lower a truck....but people also do that.

One thing is for sure, while you may not get it - lots of people do, and "luxury trucks" sell like hotcakes.

Also - a jeep wrangler or toyota tacoma are both "rugged" and both would get pulled down the street sideways in a "tug of war" against this Denali truck, and outta those 3 vehicles, which would you prefer to be in during a collision? You stick w/ the "rugged" jeep, I'll stay in the Denali lol!

I like how it looks....It is probably overpriced but like somebody said, they make packages that people will buy and we all know people will buy this.
