Michelin LT or P?

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 crew. I live in British Columbia Canada and find the OEM tires inadequate for fall and winter road conditions. I have decided on the Michelin M/S2 (265/70r17) but have difficulty deciding on the P or LT rated version. I had the LT on my previous Sierra and they were fabulous. I use my truck a great deal but mostly as personal transportation. Will I get the same secure ride out of the P rated tire? Will the anticipated savings on fuel cost be noticeable? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

LT all the way. you might lose 1-2 mpg due to a heavier tire, but I think it is worth it for the added road stability of a LT constructed tire.
