General Motors’ William Rodgers, technical fellow at GM, recently gave Autoblog the impression that carbon-fiber wheels are on their way to GM's performance vehicles. The new wheels are now available on top Mustangs and via the aftermarket. Carbon-fiber wheels are not ideal for road use, but on the track they can drop unsprung weight in cars that are already weight optimized.

One possible supplier to GM could be Carbon Revolution.

Prices are not in the discussion, but like carbon-ceramic brakes, expect the cost to be quite high.

All well and good until an idiot gets his tires rotated at Walmart and a lube monkey cracks a wheel by over torquing
