I have been a GM guy all my life, until I went to get a new one, extended cab, and found that all the vin. numbers started with a 3, which of course is Mexico. Call me old fashioned, but I will not buy a car or truck, that isn't made in America, along with the majority of the parts, perhaps next time GM needs a bailout, it can ask the Mexican Government, good luck with that.

You must not fully understand these things. That truck is only assembled in Mexico which the plant still has to go by GM's specs and rules. The only difference is that it's Mexicans assembling it and not Americans. I have yet seen a Mexican assembled truck just fall apart while driving down the road. The parts themselves still come from various companies both inside and outside of the US. I also believe with the K2 platform trucks, all of the Crew cabs were assembled in Mexico and Double cabs were assembled in the US. Not sure about regular cabs. Also they can only get a bailout form the country where they're headquartered which of course is the US. Just like Toyota got a bailout from the Japanese government because that's where they're headquartered and which is also the reason most haven't heard about it.

By the way, I'm all for making things in the US. But, I'm not going to pay way more for less quality just so I can see that decal. I know some things made in the US is of good quality, but there's also companies that feed off of people like you where they charge a big amount for a cheaply made product. So far from what I've looked at, all of my clothes that are of good quality like Carhartt, Caterpillar boots, Ariat boots, New Balance shoes, Redhead boots and even my Wrangler Jeans and jean shorts are all made out of the US. Yet they are all great quality.

Also just so you know, there's very very few products that are made 100% in the US. Maybe little small companies. Almost all products with that MADE IN THE USA are only partially made with US materials or put together here. I'm not sure of the %, but a product only has to be a certain % made in the US to legally be able to put that decal on the product. Some may even have all non US materials and just assembled here.

Wow, talk about some extremely flippant, cavalier, supercilious responses to a simple post, yes I do understand that these days if you find a vehicle that is 75% of the parts were made in America, you are lucky, I also understand that vehicles made in Mexico, do not measure up to the same vehicle made in America in my opinion. Case and point, a friend of mine just purchased a Dodge Power Wagon that was made in Mexico, this truck retailed for almost 70,000.00 dollars, the guy drove it from the dealership to his house, when he came out the next morning there was transmission fluid all over the ground, apparently some lines were not installed correctly, and the truck only had 41 miles on it, and it was just the beginning of his problems. I know what will be coming next, it is a Dodge, but it is the same at all the plants, because a friend of our family has relatives that are quality control specialist at other plants, and supposedly it is the same everywhere. Now that I am done responding to the obtuse comments, good luck with your trucks assembled in Mexico, as for myself, I do like the 2016 Yukon Denali I just bought for my wife, and it was at 74% of the parts made in America, and it was assembled in America as well. So the moderator can kick me off if he or she chooses to, as it is obvious nobody can say anything about the holy grail, GM, without being attacked, adios.

I don't think GM is the holy grail. They're not perfect. But my Double Cab was assembled in the US at the Fort Wayne IN plant and the u-bolt nuts were way under TQed. And I sure as hell isn't the only one. But I guess just because it was made or assembled in the US is automatically better according to you.

Seriously you make 2 post and you're already getting your panties in a bunch? Need some Midol? It's a public forum. Seems like you're the one getting mad at the truth.

What's very very ironic is you talk bad about the trucks assembled in Mexico, then you said bye in Spanish.....

Idk, im not going to delve in the political arena as i think that is against site rules, but one thing i do know, Mexican's are hard working people. They have been doing many blue collar jobs that quite frankly 95% of Americans refuse to do. If you enjoy the fresh produce grown in this country at any of your meals today, chances are it was fielded by a hard working immigrant worker making pennies to the dollar to keep food prices down. Had your roof fixed jn the middle of the hot Texas day? Pretty sure again immigrant labor from our neighbors to the South was the reason it got done. All i know is jobs down in Mexico mean they wont flood here by the droves and over flowing our tax and social system. Many manufacturers are building cars there and last stat i saw, was Mexico was the 7th leading producer of cars in the World and several of their factories have won TQM awards for quality and best practices. We could go on and on about cheap Mexican Labor versus Union Labor and which one is better, but a simple Google search on Mexican employees at GM plants show they make way more money than their community thanks to GM and can afford the nicer things in life such as a better education and future for the kids. Sounds a lot like the beginnings of our "Greatest Generation" upon return from WW2 and the launching pad of a middle class for Mexico. Sounds like a win to me.

Finally, why are we crapping all over Fondupots thread. He's a productive member here, no need to do that.

I used to deliver building materials to construction job sites and I sometimes saw a whole crew of Mexicans rather than just 1 or 2 on a crew where the others were white or black. The only thing I didn't like about a full Mexican crew was that usually only 1 could speak English and usually it wasn't that good. I do remember one time where me and another driver delivered all of the flooring and framing for a 2 story house on a Friday. I delivered again the following Monday or Tuesday and the whole framing was done and the foreman said that they were planning on working all weekend which is why it was done that quick.

I think the point is made, manual labor of all kinds is what Immigrant labor contributes. Only the ignorant refrain or refuse to acknowledge the contributions immigrant labor from Mexico has contributed to this country. I would take a barely speaking english illegal immigrant from Mexico any day of the week for a neighbor over the hand out palm up lazy person who refuse to work, entitled pan handler that sits on every corner on every street in this town.

Bottom line is, this country has been moving away from the manufacturing industry for decades, get on the bus, get an education and change with the times, or be the one whining who the "Mexicans are taken ar jabs"
