I have been a GM guy all my life, until I went to get a new one, extended cab, and found that all the vin. numbers started with a 3, which of course is Mexico. Call me old fashioned, but I will not buy a car or truck, that isn't made in America, along with the majority of the parts, perhaps next time GM needs a bailout, it can ask the Mexican Government, good luck with that.

Let's be serious here, the VAST majority of Chevy Trucks/SUV's are build in the US

Built in USA:

Silverado 1500 Single cab

Silverado 1500 Double cab

Silverado 2500

Silverado 3500

Colorado

Tahoe

Suburban

Traverse

Built in Mexico:

Silverado Crew Cab

Built in Canada:

Equinox

It bothered me too, but unfortunately the crew cab 1500 was the truck for me and I knew I wouldn't be happy with a double cab. I went over it with a fine tooth come compared to the Double cab parked right next to it, and I could not find a single difference. Also if you look at the window sticker of the crew cab you will see the Transmission and Engine are built in the USA

I have to question the seriousness of the trolls post. He claimed every extended cab truck he looked as was built in Mexico when the extended cab is built in Ft Wayne, Indiana. I think he's trolling for Ford.

Sorry to see you go ... I think you'll be happy with the Santa Fe ... I actually traded in a Hyundai Sonata 2.0 Turbo for my Sierra under similar circumstances ... I really loved the Sonata and was going to buy it out as the lease came due ... Was really wanting a truck, though and the GMC dealer made me an awesome deal to get out of the Hyundai ... The GMC and Hyundai dealers were one in the same ... Did you lease the Hyundai? ... I was surprised to learn there was a $400.00 disposition fee to end the lease when it was time to turn in the Sonata ... I got the dealer to absorb it though :-)

Best of luck with your Santa Fe! I think the wife and I will look at them too when she's ready to part with her Nissan Murano :-)

Double Cab Silverado's and Sierra's are built in Indiana. Crew Cabs are made in Mexico.

GM just settle the the Union contracts in Ontario Canada.

There saying the Oshawa plant is staying and a Truck build is coming to it.

No idea what truck though. Could be the Colorado, 1500,2500,3500 they didn't say just said a truck.

More than likely overflow production of either Colorado/Canyon or Silverado/Sierra.

Not the way I read it.

They said the plant is still 'capable of' pickup production, didn't say pickups were returning there.

(Early 2000's Oshawa was building extended cab pickups. When the first 1500 crews were built, Oshawa was the only plant building them.)

They're bringing in Silverado/Sierra's from Fort Wayne to do final assembly at Oshawa.

That makes sense. I didnt read your article, but GM did say they were moving a portion of crew cab manufacturing back to the US from Mexico. Flint is probably going to pick up those slots.

I'll be honest, I severely miss my Sierra. The SFS is nice, but it's just NOT the same. I wouldn't be surprised if I am out of SFS in a year or two and get back into a truck......

Thanks Boomer119, I did not lease the Santa Fe. I was able to take advantage of employee pricing through a family member and got a ridiculous discount on the vehicle. It's a nice vehicle, but I definitely miss my truck.

It came down to my truck was a lease, and I was over the miles. And it was also in an accident two summers ago. To buy out the truck from the lease was like 33k all in. But since it was in an accident it was only worth around 25k-26k. So I would have taken a big loss right off the bat on the truck.

Im kinda in the same boat like my Santa Fa miss my truck. I retired and a truck reminded me of work. I'll remedy it later buy getting a Tahoe or a Yukon. V8 rear drive is to ingrained in me.
