Chris Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 3 words Florida love bugs give me chrome... ppf is a must for painted. I like the looks of both though..no real strong preference just chrome easier in Florida You had to bring that up. I moved away from Florida about 6 years ago and forgot about them. Pain in the ass to clean
Havvkeye Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Chrome does not chip as easy as paint, unless of course you get a bumper with a bad chrome job that peels on its own You mean like the running boards on my '16 Sierra? https://m.imgur.com/a/f2RTU
Rick Ehrhardt Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Even though I am an "older guy" - and still do like chrome on some vehicles, the lack of it on my '17 was one of the main reasons I bought it.
Sean Neilan Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Chrome should have gone away in 1973. It belongs on motorcycles and classic cars only. =) Although with that said, im kind of pissed my color matched bumper is starting to look like a Dalmatian from all the rock chips after only a little over a year and 29k miles. Probably going to get it repainted and one of those clear bras put on this summer. Or just get an off-road bumper.
batman53201 Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 I loved chrome when I was a lot younger, now, not so much
Donstar Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 The amount of chrome accent on a vehicle is a matter of taste. When I was first buying vehicles, an absence of chrome was indicative of a less expensive model. Now a vehicle void of chrome is eye catching! I personally like some chrome on my trucks I like lots of chrome on my HD! (two of Harley's most popular colors - black and chrome)
Sean Neilan Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Chrome really got ruined for me when people started slapping that cheap plasti-chrome crap all over their cars.
OldBlue61 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Sorry, but I'm firmly in the chrome camp. Personally, I don't like the monochrome look or the murdered out look, but to each their own! But I do agree w/ all that add-on cheap a$$ plastic chrome crap from Pep Boys or Walmart. That crap needs to go away, FAR away.
therapy Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Man, I love them all. I love some of these guys murdered out street trucks or lifted monsters, I love some of the chrome accents on the others. What I want personally is one thing, but I can appreciate the beauty in all these trucks even if it's not necessarily something I would buy. The only thing I don't like is the cheap add-on crap like plastic bumpers and fender flares and shitty spoilers...you bought a truck, not something that's going to be in the Fast & Furious #12 or whatever.
HawkeyeSierra Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Gimme chrome bumpers front and rear for durability. Anything else is too much for me. But to each his own. Unless you are this guy.
Rock1500 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Younger people like everything mono or black. Older people like Chrome. Something for everyone. The AT edition? The ultra cheap looking faux carbon fiber seats killed it for me. I like the seats Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
2014gmcAT Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 You mean like the running boards on my '16 Sierra? https://m.imgur.com/a/f2RTU Just washed my truck today noticed my black painted boards are starting to peel. Now they match my painted bumper. All the chrome on my truck has pitted with dirt that's impossible to remove. Tried everything from aluminum foil to metal polish. Seems like the dirt chemically bonded, can't scrape it off. As far as I'm concerned it makes to difference painted or chrome, if it's cheap it'll chip.

1300c Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 You mean like the running boards on my '16 Sierra? https://m.imgur.com/a/f2RTU I had the same issue on my 11, and they fixed them under my warranty. My 16 hasn't started yet thankfully.
Grumpy Bear Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Chrome really got ruined for me when people started slapping that cheap plasti-chrome crap all over their cars. You mean like the cheap plasti-chrome crap over plastic all the majors use these days instead of honest triple plate over steel? That's the killer. It isn't about shinny or not. Okay, IMHO.
