Thanks. Now just need to track down the harness so we can connect everything...That seems to be the trickiest part of this.

I haven't seen a how to or pics of an install either. I will be doing so with my Yukon.

With pgamboa's help, I've identified one of the connectors and think I've found the other for the switch. I'll be making a custom harness.

The main difference b/t the trucks and suvs I can see would be the cluster visor. They look to be shorter in length than the suvs. Does anyone know if GM offers an HUD in the trucks as an OE option?

Sorry for all of the probably dumb questions but does the HUD project through the crash avoidance display? Can't imagine cutting a hole in the top of the dash..that would be a deal breaker for me. Anyone have a pic of where the switch mounts in a Tahoe? Just wondering how the switch placement would work in a Sierra given the different dash setup.

Yes it does project that

I assumed this was all in regards to the Silverado and Sierra since it is in this forum section.

Ok..one less thing to worry about. Now I need to figure out how the switch and wiring would work then maybe we could do a tutorial once someone figures it out for the pickups. The SUV's should be much more straight forward since the HUD system could be ordered in one of those..not so in the pickups.

On the suvs, I believe there is a larger and/or separate opening for the HUD in the cluster visor. Chris, please correct me if I am wrong. If there is, and GM offered it in the trucks, then that would address the cutting issue.

The HUD switch is mounted to the left of the steering wheel just under the vent in the suvs.

Like I said sadly I've got no knowledge of this outside of programming probably at least 20 truck clusters for it over the years. I have not had anyone contact us saying it didn't work etc.

I don't see a cover in my Sierra Denali (its a 2017). Just the crash avoidance display.

Understand..appreciate the help nonetheless. If we can figure this out for the trucks, that 20 number will probably go way up :)

Cmatt--If you look at your Tahoe can you see if the additional opening is in the separate front defrost panel that the crash avoidance is in? If that is there is a chance that 'might' be interchangeable with the trucks. Somebody (me) might have to take a chance to find out for sure.

So the cluster visor part# in cocoa for the Tahoe is 23181840 which indicates it is for the hud. The non hud visor for the Tahoe in cocoa is 23181849, completely different number for the Sierra denali in the same color with no option for an hud version. This tells me it will not work in the trucks unless I'm missing something or they use two completely different part numbers for the same part on different vehicles.

The crash avoidance module in the pickups is not capable to HUD info as you would need to replace the crash avoidance module with the SUV's HUD unit. There are atleast 2 different p/n's for the HUD as GM has made revisions of which I don't what the changes are from my research though but a big price difference between them with the superceded p/n. By the looks of everything, there will be some needed modifications to the pickup dashes to get this to work and look decent. I haven't been able to test stuff as I'm still waiting on my cluster as it's still on backorder. The SUV defroster vent panel and cluster visor MAY work WITH modification of the pickup's dash behind its cluster visor but again haven't been able to test yet. As for where to mount the switch, I'm still looking for ideas since I have the trailer brake controller, there is limited space for a clean install.

I just saw your post CRApex (I'm on the app). Sounds like we're thinking the same.
