modern spark plugs easily go for 100K or more. you can change them out early if you like but it will do nothing more then make you feel better lol.

had 60k and changed them on my last car rated for 100k and they still looked new.  probably was still a good idea at the time because it wasnt going to get any easier because i already had the plenum off. still could have lasted another 50k easy.

Summit Racing is saying these are not compatible with my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 (6.2L). Can anyone confirm they are not an issue?

They say they aren’t compatible with my 5.3 either but they fit fine.

Here are my plugs at a 116k miles.

The old ones don't look bad.  However, a plug doesn't have to look bad to be bad.  I've had brand new ones that ran like crap, put the old ones back and it was just fine.  I've also plulled some out that looked so bad I couldn't believe it still ran, but it did.  You just never know unless you have a real problem and it's missing.

They all looked pretty good. #8 looked the worst and had some build up but that could be from the seafoam I ran through it a couple of days ago. Drove it around tonight, didn’t notice anything different but wasn’t shocked by that. On a couple of them the electrodes were worn down enough to change the shape to more ball like than a point. You could see on some of them the burn mark on the strap.

I am a big fan of the Placebo effect :D

That being said, I have 83k on my plugs. I will change them when I feel the telltale stumble of bad plugs.

Have you install the front Bilsteins?

Yup. Very easy. About 10mins to swap the springs around per side.

I would not go 100K miles with same plugs at all! These GDI engines EAT,FOUL and CRAP out so called 100K plugs in 60K. Do yourself a favor and @60K toss em! THEY DO NOT LAST 100K

I'm currently at 156K on the factory plugs. Runs great.  I will be replacing them in the next week or so. Cant believe I went this long without doing it.  Bad on my part. They do run great though.  2015 GMC Sierra All-Terrain with the 5.3.

They can go that long but not worth the trouble with GDI imo.  Injector nozzles carbon up, piston tops start to change spray pattern and plugs get worked over.

Keep the GDI's clean boys!

I'd be interested in seeing some pics of those plugs when you pull them. I am currently at 110k on my 2014 and haven't even thought about changing them till I read this thread.

Just had mine changed at 101,000 in my 2016, which is when it's recommended by the dealer/GM. I noticed an immediate difference in how the truck drives the first time I drove it. More responsive than I remember it being since I bought it June of 2018 with 64,000 on it. And my truck was running fine, not 1 issue.

Over the life of the truck, it's cheap maintenance. Do it when it's recommended.

Does anyone know which spark plug wires are needed?  I have 2015 GMC Sierra and AC Delvo has two different ones on their website.  Metal Heat shield and without.  I cannot find anywhere on which the manufacture installs or if it matters.  Thanks all!
