Need a little HELP. I installed my OEM tow mirrors Friday with the correct OEM harnesses everything was plug and play until Sat. morning. on Friday all my controls worked and lights functioned as they should. when I went out Sat. morning my left and right control on both mirrors either does not work or doesn't work correctly. Im thinking I need the BCM flash to restore these functions. like I said everything worked correctly on Friday but Im thinking after a few cycles of start and stop the computer noticed that something was different and now I have not right left control on the mirrors. The videos put on here were a great help thanks so much for all the help

This is really strange behavior that I've never heard or read from any other member. Are the mirrors power fold or non-powerfold? Can you provide a little more info on your truck like Year, trim, cab, fuel?

Do you have also have part #s to the harnesses you installed?

It is odd that everything worked one day then the behavior changed the next. Is it only the left/right control that doesn't work or work right? Can you describe a little more what "doesn't work right" means?

It is still unclear to me what the BCM/Memory Module Calibrations actually do and in all the customers I've helped who have bought harnesses from me, none have needed Flash/Calibration.

2015 1500 Silverado LT crew cab 5.3 gas engine (late 2015 model no jumper harness required) Chrome tow mirror Manual fold/extend tow mirrors. Harnesses Drivers side 23342729 passenger 23342715. Ok let me try and explain this as to not confuse myself or everyone LOL. Lets start with what works. marker lights turn signals and white LEDs when cargo light is turned on. After I installed the drivers side Mirror I had up down left and right control and all lights worked. moved onto Passengers side. I cant remember if I checked movement after passenger side install or not, the more I think about it the more 'i'm unsure I checked the movement and just assumed it worked. when mirror selector switch is on the drivers side mirror will move left only. when I switch over to the passenger side selector the drivers side will still move only to the left no control to the passenger side mirror. I may of not had these controls on Friday and just noticed it the next day while driving to the store. that's why I'm thinking I need the re-flash I have the correct harnesses from the GM bullatian and it states it will need the BCM flashed for all functions to work properly.

What about the year and trim?

I'm thinking you have an LT/SLE and not the higher trim?

Do all of your windows work from the driver side switch? Try to disconnect the door jamb boot on both sides, reconnect them. Look for any messages on the DIC and report back. Check each function specifically and report back.

Hello all,

Bottom line up front: this upgrade is fantastic and pgamboa can make it happen for you!

I just finished upgrading my 2017 Silverado (4WD All Star Edition) mirrors (side and rearview) from DL8 to DL3 using pgamboa's harnesses and assistance and they are fantastic!

Just to reiterate: if you've got the standard mirrors and upgrade you gain:

· Turn signals in side mirrors

· Power folding side mirrors

· Puddle lamps on side mirrors

· Auto dim driver and rear-view mirrors (if you do the harness and rear-view mirror upgrade as well as the side mirrors)

You will need:

· DL3 Side mirrors (I bought mine from pgamboa)

· Rear view mirror with autodim capability (pgamboa found an ebay auction for one for me)

· Power folding switch (found this on ebay myself using Part # 23154702)

· Custom door harnesses from pgamboa

· Custom rear-view mirror harness from pgamboa

· Basic tools (screwdrivers, ratchet set) and a set of trim tools (see link below)

I was dubious about getting this done and everything working, I don't have a garage and am one of those "only works on cars when something's broke" kind of guys. I hadn't taken a door panel apart since I worked on my '90 Silverado like....15 years ago. I cannot stress enough how straightforward the whole thing was working with pgamboa. I bought a set of side mirrors and three custom harnesses (for both sides and rear view) from him and he had everything shipped out in less than 24 hours, with everything in my hands in four days, damn near Amazon fast. It took me about two hours to do the driver mirror and harness install given my inexperience, but every time I ran into a snag I just shot him a text and he set me straight. Passenger side I knocked out in a half hour, and rear-view mirror took me 2-3 mainly because I struggled getting the X61A junction harness accessible to add in the new terminals. At one point, I broke one of the terminal leads and pgamboa just mailed me some extras to get me moving again. Everything is working and I couldn’t be happier.

If you’re a novice at this kind of work it might take you a little longer but the upgrade is VERY doable with his help, and if you’re more experienced you could knock it all out in an afternoon. If you buy pgamboa’s custom harnesses everything is literally drop in. I HIGHLY recommend going through pgamboa for everything, mirrors and power fold switch included if he has them on hand because if you run into any issues he will make it right.

Advice wise: the zip tie on the wire bundle you need to access in the X61A box doesn’t have to be cut, you can pull it loose since it connects like a trim panel retainer clip and it’ll come down far enough to work on. That one tiny little thing is what cost me the most time on this entire install. Also, a set of trim tools is essential, I used these and they are great:

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT, i bought all my harnesses through my local dealership last year, but didn't have the time to complete it before leaving for Korea. I hooked up all the new door harnesses and RZY harness the other day and everything works just how it should. My only questions is how do mod the cargo lamp option in the mirrors to come on in reverse?

I'd also like to thank you for the time you have put into this, this tread has definitely help me out when I did the install the other day. I would of been completely lost.

Very glad to here. I commend anyone who has to install the RZY Jumper Harness. It is a PITA to install. LOL.

Here is a pic of the Cargo Light on with Reverse Light. The mod occurs in the BCM. Between the brown and pink connector. It's pin 26 of the brown connector going to pin 26 of the pink connector. Stripe of the diode is towards the pink connector. Diode is 1N4004

DL8 to Tow Mirror DSQ (chrome w/power fold

hi all thought I’d share what I’m doing

I’ll get to the results first. I replaced just the driver side with new harness and mirror.

Passenger side no change yet. So far no warning/check lights or messages that truck will self-destruct.

Drivers side

Installed new harness, and mirror, Drilled 4th hole in door for mirror

I have heat, Turn Signal, puddle lights go on with Cargo light switch, Front amber clearance Lamps are on when lights are on..

Single light blinks when lock or unlock.

I got wrong folding switch so i cant test that yet, i ordered the correct one today. (23154702)

I have up/down but no side to side with old switch. Update,3/21 installed new switch, no folding.

Passenger side

Have not changed anything yet.

Lost all up/down/side functions.

Update,3/21 will install new harness this weekend

Ordered

this is what i ordered

mirror driver 84041609

mirror pass 84041611 (ill install next weekish)

driver harness 23342727

pass harness 23342716

mirror switch 23488411 (wrong one)

mirror switch 23154702 (right one for my door harness)

Truck

2016 Silverado LT 2500HD.

Attached are some pics and build sheet. I have no memory seats.

I do have trailer package, snowplow prep, off road

I can post more pic later about the install process if you think it will be of interest.

Follow up question...

As mentioned earlier, the dealer was supposed to change my DL3s for DQS. (2017 Silverado 2500 LTZ Z71 Midnight. Shipped with DL3 and A45 memory). Their install company (ADI) put in DPN mirrors. I'm working with the dealer now to hopefully resolve this, although ADI claims it cannot be done.

With the DPN mirror installed, they used these harnesses. Part numbers are from the GM box the parts came in.

84125561

84125571

If I can get the DQS mirrors, will these harnesses work, or do they have to be replaced with the part numbers originally mentioned? (23342727 and 23342716) Or just buy harnesses from here (assuming I decide to rip apart the doors myself)?

I may have to explore other options for this and don't want to buy/replace yet another harness if the one I have will work.

Thanks.

Joe,

While I haven't physically had my hands on harnesses - 84125571 or 84125561, my search shows that these part #s are the newest part #s. As a matter fact, when i search for 23342727, several websites show that the updated part # (or part # that has replaced it) is 82145571. And the same for 23342716, shows that 84125561 is the updated (superseded) part #. Either of those should work for your truck.

I also did a check on ebay, and those part #s reference each other. So either set should work.

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
