Before I place my order, can you confirm the part number?  The manufacturer lists a similar part number that indicates (GM).  Thanks!

Sorry for the long response time but I'm on vacation.

This is the one you want. The other one will work according to the company, but you will have to cut one of the tabs off with a razor knife. They looked it up and gave me that info in case the one ever ended up on back order.

Let me know if you need further clarification!b3cd6d7df6bc48490177bd4741dab1a8.jpg

And as always... Enjoy your ride!

I got the OEM harness from GM parts outlet (#22878806) about $30, LED strip lights from amazon and some automotive 3M tape. Saved quite a bit over what GM wants with better lighting.

Harness is plug and play, there is a spot by your spare that it plugs into and is controlled by the switch in the cab. Just cut the plugs off the light end and splice your LEDs into them. The LEDs I bought have adhesive but it's not that good. I ran the 3M tape where I put the lights, along the top of the rails. I'll try to take a pic tonight at work if I can.

Does it matter if the harness is for a 2500 or 1500?  just looked up that part number and its listed for the 2500

Is this circuit controlled by the regular cargo light switch?

I’m interested in doing the same thing, I think.  I already have the factory bed lights, but I want to replace them with led strips that run down most of the sides.  Let me know how this goes please and I may copy you.

If you already have the factory lights all you need to do is snip the wires under each bedrail and splice in whatever LED strips you want.  The replacement lights will work the same as the current factory ones in your bed do now.

I know i could do that but I'd like to be able to turn them on at the tailgate. I want to wire a switch so i can flick them on without having to turn on the power from inside the truck.

If u connect them to your reverse lights with a diode  they will come on when u unlock your doors with ur remote and stay on when u exit. That’s usually enough time to get what u need in/ out of the bed. (If not all u have to do us hit unlock on the remote again) I have my bed lights, reverse lights, and my cargo light connected together . It’s super bright back there. No need for a switch at tailgate for me.

Is there a 12v power source at the rear of the truck to easily add a relay and switch in the bed for the bed lights or would one need to be ran from the front?

You can tap into the power source that goes to the trailer connector.  In my 2007 I had to hook that power source up to the fuse block under the hood and add a fuse.  Not sure if that is the same on the newer models.  If you click on the link in my sig for underrail bed lights it will take you to a step by step that I made.  Again, that was on a 2007 (non-classic).

I installed two led strip and just wired them into the connector for the existing bed lights.  I only use the strips now and it's 100 times better!

Used mictuning 60" strips from amazon for $30

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JUE9OLM/ref=twister_B07BWSJ9KY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

They already have a good 3m adhesive strip on the back and the 60" was a perfect fit along my tonneau cover rail.

just disconnected the existing bed lights and tapped into those connectors as a 1 for 1 replacement  so I didn't need the wiring harness that comes with them.  I just use the regular cargo light switch in the cab like I always did.   I just did the diode mod to allow them to come on when you hit the unlock key on the fob.  I like that too but you only get 30 seconds before you have to hit it again.  My wife wants a switch back there so that's going on my list of future projects.

It's the same.  It's been a while (I don't even have the truck anymore) but I remember not putting the check mark in the box that makes sure it's compatible with my 1500 because the part number was for a 2500.
