Larger fuel tank

GM needs to offer a 30+ gallon tank on the next gen 2019 trucks. This should have happened years ago. IMHO

 

The suburban and Yukon xl have a 30+ gallon tank. It's prob in a different location and different frame.

 

The same body style diesel truck can have a 36 gallon tank (crew cab 6.6' bed) the half tons should have it too.

Wait so how and dosent the f150 give you 30+ gallon tank option ? On the half tons obviously

The "standard" F-150 tank is like 20 gallons. I think the "optional" larger tank is a way to gouge customers out of $500 for a useful sized tank.

Although it would be in-bed, they offer 30 plus gallon fuel cells that could be plumbed in...I used one for many years before I bought a 90-gallon aluminum tank...but that was diesel.

 

I think there is an issue hauling gasoline in the steel in-bed tanks besides EPA...DOT regs maybe?

Can you get us some basic measurements on your tank; total length, length before and after the frame indentations, width etc

Perhaps, need to get under the truck for some, mods, within the next week. I'll try and remember to get some rough measurements

The standard 2016 F150 tank is 23 gallons and there is an optional 36 gallon tank for $395. I have one on my 2016 Supercrew, 5.5' bed. In 2017 they made the 36 gallon tank standard when you order the max tow package. I am not sure what the standard tank is in the 2017.

GM does, but only on the 2500/3500 (unless you want the reg cab 8ft)

 

All GM HD's have a 36 gal tank.

25 gallons at 23mpg is a 575 mile range, which is a considerably higher than most other vehicles.

My 2011 HD with 6.5ft had a 136L (36 USgal).

 

IIRC, tank size changed to 136L across the board came with the new frame in 2011.

Towing is my issue, at 10 to 12 mpg, I am stopping every 200 miles or less

All HD's went to the 36 gallon fuel tank in 2011 when the frame changed.

 

Before that it was 26 gallons for standard bed and 34 gallons for long bed

I thought someone would have figured this out by now. I have been looking for two years because 200 miles per tank when towing a rv is just sad and annoying. Someone please!!!!!!......help
