OK.

In the large consulting group I work for, in airports, and in my life in general I don't notice very many traditional briefcases any longer. They seem to have been displaced by a general trend toward business casual attire, laptop and tablet bags, and cell phones.

I would also note that luxury cars and luxury SUVs are much more popular commuter vehicles for those I encounter who might tote a hard sided briefcase, so I still would have to say in the world I know a pickup truck driver needing to be reminded of his briefcase would be a rare sight.

That said, I haven't been to the East Coast much and don't ride a commuter train to work. If a hard sided briefcase is necessary in your line of work or commute style, I don't doubt it.

If you don't like it turn it off. Don't understand why people are complaining about this. If it saves one kid then it was worth it. Just because you or me have never forgot our kids in the back seat, doesn't mean others haven't. Was it so hard to turn this feature off that you have to get online and complain about it?

While these are all good points, this feature to me confirms that maybe some people shouldn't have kids. If GM thought this was a necessary feature, puts some of the parents of today's world in the dumb category. :happysad:

The guy at the dealer who walked me through the phone setup and such pointed out that feature to me.

He said "This is so you don't forget your kids or dogs or . . . "

I gave him a really weird look and he showed me how to shut it off . . .

I am in favor of this feature. Listening to people say they "forgot" their child in the car I typically find unbelievable and this dashboard warning could be one more piece of evidence to show they were lying. My little dog loves riding in the backseat of my truck and often joins me on errands. She is quiet and lays in her bed 99% of the ride. I couldn't imagine ever forgetting her and to me forgetting a human passenger is incomprehensible!

Here we go again trying to solve the the problem of a few air heads by imposing on everyone. First they put in a front airbag without a defeat switch to cold conk a child in the front passenger carseat so you have to place it in a rear seat where a parent has to constantly take attention from traffic or where a few airheads ignore them entirely and leave them to cook - now put a stupid message in the DIC and a dinger for all which likely the same inattentive air head will ignore just like they ignored the child they forgot in the back seat in the first place.

Hey GM- here's an idea to solve the problem without any stupid messages to annoy childless individuals or responsible parents with a brain:

Design a pedestal mount option where the front passenger bucket or split bench rotates 180 degrees and locks so that a child in a front car seat remains in sight and easy reach of the parent while the back of the seat isolates the child from an exploding front airbag. Might also be useful for a front passenger who wants to gab with friends in the rear seat or spread their feet out on an empty rear seat and take a quiet snooze instead of back seat driving.

As pointed out before the message can be disabled. I would like the novelty of a pedestal seat but not as a remedy for a simple reminder message on the dash! My '78 Econoline had pedestal seats and made for easy conversing with passengers in the back seat when the vehicle was stopped. These are also great for people with disabilities in assisting transfers!

Adjustable pedals are a waste too imo. Set when I bought the truck. Never touched again. I'd rather that option money went into power folding side mirrors or something.

BUT you were able to adjust them to your liking. Even if it was just that one time. That alone may have been worth the extra $?

My truck does not have this feature, but if it did, I would really like to adjust them towards the floor a bit.

My lawnmower has a reverse lockout switch I have to hit every time I back up because a few idiots have run their kids over with them. I could bypass it, but I've just gotten used to it.

As implemented, I think it's more likely to cost lives than save them.

A warning that sounds every time you exit car, and shows on the little screen behind the steering wheel is pretty easy to ignore.

If I wanted to do this I would tie it in to weight on seat or seat belts, and make it speak like "Warning, back seat passengers" or at least put it on the big screen when people have that. (which most do)

The dingdingding and little message gets pretty easy to ignore when 999/1000 you're not forgetting a child or dog in back seat, but every time you leave truck it goes off.

I'm not technically "complaining" either, just noting it's strange as implemented.

I used to laugh every time I'd see the big warning sticker on my dad's snowblower with a stick man's hand being lopped off by the snowblower, but I imagine there are some people like, "Huh I think something is stuck behind those whirlng blades making that noise! Willie, hold down the handle to keep it going, I will reach in between the blades and get it out!" they have to protect themselves from.

It depends. Sometimes my wife drives my truck and for her they are great. She is not very tall and once she puts the seat the whole way forward and up she can't get the right angle on the pedals. So she just moves the pedals toward her until the reach is correct. We love them!

Not saying you were the one complaining about it. However there are other posts complaining about a feature that is easy to turn off if you don't like it. It's not like GM made so it can't be turned off.

One thing to keep in mind abut this feature is that it only alerts if you opened the rear door.

So if the rear door was not opened, it should not alert. From the user manual:

Rear Seat Reminder

This allows for a chime and a message “Look in Rear Seat” when the rear door has been opened before or during operation of the vehicle. Select Off or On.

Like others, it was one of the first things I disabled. Once I read/understood the logic of the alert, and that is does not alert every time the truck is turned off, I re-enabled it to try again.

I am leaning toward disabling it again.... :loser:

I never had them before and really don't need them now. It's just another thing I'll have to readjust if the wife takes the truck. She never put the seat back to where it was as it is. Now I'll be readjusting the pedals too!! Lol!

    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
