I have used Mobil 1 in my 2003 1500HD for years. It now has 220,000 miles on it.

What's this bulletin about oil consumption?

Her is one post but there was others I have read.

Oh I see 2003 there is a bulletin for that also with how to fix. but it is a ton of work.

Sorry to hi jack your post but Other than say a lease I would never go off the oil life percent. I changed mine at 70% and it was nasty. I have a Elite E2 with clean breather and clean it out weekly. I put less than 3k miles on a year so far. And I know it is a turbo truck, tune, DOD delete.  Even the old ladies lease was so far different from % to mile the dealer, she was 1300miles over at 24%.  Dealer said to follow the miles or % what ever comes first or the warranty was void, and they said we do check that first!

I would use any Dexos approved 0w20.  Mobil 1, Valvoline, Penzoil, etc.  Use a PF63E as specified in the owners manual.  No need at all to use amsoil or any other over priced oil, for 8 bucks a quart.  Channge every 5k miles, and never look back.

I understand where you are coming from. But as bulletins, tech, and owners are seeing there is a case to be made for different oils. Many people are having oil pressure drops and in warmer climates as well as heavy towing are upping the oil weight. Issue on the newer trucks is the 2nd oil pressure kicks in and 80psi is common then a second later at idle 10psi. Also super and turbo charged trucks are breaking down oil faster. My turbo runs 800-1000* normal and in boost 1600* so that oil is seeing extreme temps.

HPL is the new thing for performance and race and is listed as the turbo oil to have so I will buy a few cases for the race car. And there is a best oil when it comes to performance. Again MOST on here don't need anything like that.

Using A/C delco semisynthetic and A/C delco PF63E filters, but went to  5W20 instead of 0W20 ,changing it at 3000 miles, cheap insurance,if it’s good enough for the General, it’s good enough for me, the manufacturers aren’t going to risk there products ,on junk products,it’s more important to do your service on time than what your preferences are, everyone has there favorite

Was going to change the oil in my truck this weekend & wondering what oil you all are using.  I normally use Mobil 1 in my other vehicles, was going to get it, but saw Valvoline synthetic that says it is formulated for 2012+ engines.  Mobil 1 doesn't say that, but thinking its probably formulated for it.  Both were 0W-20.

Next question, what filter?  I normally use Fram or AC-Delco in my other vehicles.

I would never use a Fram oil filter, just this last summer on my brothers 2015' D-Max  the fram oil failed because it rusted through.

Semi isn't Dexos 2. Not saying that is good or bad, just not GM spec or warranty covered.

Whatever the local oil change shop puts in it. I believe it’s Mobil 1 5w-30. Can’t remember the receipt. I know it was synthetic and 5w-30. I do know it’s an AC Delco filter.

I do mobile 1 extended performance 0w-20 but am thinking of switching to 5w-30.  Mobile 1 filter as well.  I change every 8-10k miles or once a year.  Check for level and color every 3k.  Doesn’t seem to consume much, but I am worried about the pressure issues people seem to be having.

my car and wife’s Jeep follow OLM.  I put penzoil in the Jeep because mobile 1 doesn’t meet Chrysler specs...

Walmart isnt in the list of stores where it can be bought from.  Assuming you meant Walmart when you posted Wally World.

Do not worry about Walmart not being on the list.  I have received rebates two previous times from WM purchases and have a third one in the pipeline right now.  It is good.

I didn't see AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly, or NAPA on there either.  Most of us would be SOL if they didn't.
