Exactly... such a ridiculous statement that someone regrets owning a certain “brand” because of an issue... news flash, EVERY car company has issues... between mechanical issues and all these computer related things on vehicles now, it’s inevitable. My biggest problem I’m reading on this forum is how these mechanics are handling the fixes and how they flat out beat the crap out of the panels and paint while “fixing” a very expensive truck. Have some pride in your work...

I'm 37.  I have owned 2 VWs, 1 Subaru, 1 Nissan, and 1 Toyota.  My 2006 VW GTI had a wastegate actuator rod fail on the turbo at 10,000 miles, and that was by far the worst problem with a car/SUV I had experienced until now.  I drove the other 4 vehicles for about 50k-60k miles each, and not one problem.  This is not the norm and I expected better from a company who doesn't shut up about their J.D. Power 'Best in Initial Quality' awards.

I called GM Customer Care and spoke with someone who had a heavy accent and I couldn't understand, so it was a struggle.  Do they just record the complaint and move on?  Do they only "open cases" in the most extreme situations, like waiting 90 days for a fix?

Not all news is bad. Not sure how many remember my adventure, which really has not been bad compared to most others. I opened up a case with GMC two weeks ago today, after my rear window had been backordered and the dealer could really not tell me anything. Suddenly my rear window showed I got an appointment this past Monday, took it in and got a loaner vehicle. I picked it up today, with the new window and all the rust on the jack and seat brackets taken care of, (not exactly sure how they took care of the rust, they may have painted the brackets. But it looks good.) I've checked over the vehicle carefully and I am satisfied. Got the recalls and first service done as well. Fingers are still crossed, but so far it has been a positive experience.

I agree with you 100%. I bought a GM because when I was researching they seemed to have the least “I love my truck, even with all the issues” fans. It seems like when I would read the Ram forums, every topic had ‘even with these issues, I love my truck’, which made me think, ‘why would u buy a truck knowing it has issues?’

I can go back 30 years and list the issues I have had with my cars on one hand.

- ‘92 s-10 - starter failed with 5000 miles. Traded in at 100,000 miles

- ‘96 VW Golf - one recall (maybe 2). Traded in at 115,000 miles.
- ‘98 Subaru Legacy GT (bought used in 2000). Synchros replaced under warranty at 34,000 miles. Head gasket went and traded in at 115,000.
- ‘04 WRX, mildly modded. Had it for 8 years, 90,000 miles. Zero issues.
- ‘09 Tacoma (bought in ‘08). Kept for 11 years, 160,000 miles. Wheel bearing and drive shaft replaced after 100,000 miles with a lift and bigger rims/tires.

I drove all the cars like Rally cars and the taco off road, towing 4000+ lb trailers.

I feel like I am walking on egg shells with this truck.

I pick up my new LT TB tomorrow.  It was build 9/19 and is a Fort Wayne build.  Will let you guys know if I have the leak.  When I pick it up, I plan to look under the rear seat and also at the inside ceiling area near the rear to look for signs of water entry and will make an issue with it with the dealer at pickup if I find any evidence of water.
Well if it has the leak walk away. Do the inspection before you sign the papers

GM keeps telling me that they want to give me compensation but they can’t tell me what. They only say I have to wait until my truck is repaired and then and only them can they talk about compensation.  Kinda like a health care law. Got to pass it to see what we just voted for
Good will dept gave me an extended warranty on my truck. Usually you have an option of accessories credits, oil changes, or a warranty. They can also pay your truck payment if it's over 22 or so days but that might also be only if your truck is through gm financial. Not sure on the last one.

Well another couple weeks with the replacement window and still no leaks. As long as the leak doesn't come back it is easy to forget all this and enjoy your new truck. Just accept the fact that you will always need a flashlight and two towels in your truck for as long as you own it.

Brought my truck into a Chevy dealer near me and was told they'll need to have their water-leak guy look at it on Monday.  The service consultant had not heard about the issue, so I showed him the TSB and this thread.  We'll see how they proceed, but I am holding out hope being that they're a larger dealer with a body shop on site.

I was given the extended warranty the first time it went in for the leak. That one took 16 days. It’s been 70 days today since I stroked the check in full to them. No payments for them to make.  I’m disgusted with this whole thing at this point. Especially after joining the Facebook group and seeing people that have gotten new headliners and windows within two weeks of discovery of their leaks.

I’m hopeful for you, too. I took mine to the dealer next to my house - which is probably top 3 largest in the US with a massive service, fleet and body shop biz. My advisor had never heard of the leaking rear window, and they didn’t follow the TSB when they tried (unsuccessfully) to fix it the first time at the end of December.

So I called another dealer 30 min away. The service advisor was much more knowledgeable of the issue. I’m taking it up to them this week now.

All this to say... don’t assume anything and press the dealer to really hear their game plan and knowledge of the issue. It’s worth it to take extra time to go to a dealer who knows what they’re doing if you can.

Back to the drawing board..They did the tsb for the leak..it's now leaking worse than before.. These things need to be recalled...Dealer has been good to me so far, not my purchasing dealer. But Chevy needs to fix this asap. Makes me sick to think of what we paid for these trucks for them to leak. Guess I'll see what the next step is tomorrow.

Did they let the sealant properly cure for 24 hours indoors before they gave it back to you when you did the TSB?

Nope. Picked it up the same day. Wasn't even that good of a job. I can see the yellow sealant above the window as well. Are the 2020's leaking as well? My confidence in this thing is very low. I'll dump it if I have to keep dealing with this.  Is a new rear window even going to fix this?

It’s got to have something to do with that spoiler and the controls for the window verse the standard spoiler that doesn’t have them, I looked at one yesterday, the dealer said why don’t you want the slider, I said they leak there’s a TSB, they said they weren’t aware of it

    • It's possible the two trucks are using different body control modules which is why yours works and the OP's doesn't.   So much in these newer vehicles depends on model/trim configurations, production date. They don't all use the same modules like back in the day.
    • I forgot to answer the question as per what market mine is set to and yes I finally found that area on mine and yes its also set to America.   So here's something I realized as I wasn't looking at that part in the Sierra section until now, your right that what I see here as choice 3 under Sierra which says 07/2023-06/2026 ( 433 MHz 13542523 ) it has no choice 5 for tire pressure selection. Where as it does under the Chev choice. However I kept going down the list within the Sierra and I am really wondering if choice 9 will work for your truck as it has the same model number and hertz sensor as my truck. I would say try that choice first, if that doesn't work then jump over to the Chev section and again choose that same model and hertz choice as for some reason the Chev section gives the choice 5 of tire type/pressure selection for going back a number of years. Could very well be an Autel thing that they just didn't get the updates all done properly under Sierra but anyway first try that selection 9 I suggested under Sierra and then go from there.
    • Looking for this piece that holds the hose clamp in place. I have the hose clamp just not that other piece. Dealers and wrecking yards in my area will not sell just that piece. They want you to buy the whole air tube $100 +/- to get that $5 part.  that piece isn't molded to the air tube as I looked at my friends truck. It's held on by a screw and nut. I'm trying to put the OEM parts on the truck as the previous owner butchered things up installing an aftermarket CAI. It really looked homemade. 🤣 Thanks
    • Ok I missed that part that yours is a GM. The strange part is that the choice for year ranges and within the year of 2026 is different on the Sierra then on the Chev for some reason as I am looking at my tool at the Sierra choices. Now I am guessing you see as to your sensor part number as it may be different on your truck for some reason and a call to GM should get you the part model number of the sensors you should have as well as which MHz your sensors are. I know mine are the ones as per what I listed but there are other choices in the Autel and got me wondering if by some chance they put different ones in your truck. Having said that, did you try using each of the choices starting from No 1 and going on down the list, not sure if that would mean shutting off the engine each time and resetting the tool and going at it again each time. Also I thought of something else which may sound retarded but if there was some stupid chance that the chev choice would work. The reason I say that is that the Sierra is showing a range up to 06/2026 for the various choices of sensors it could be where as the Chev has one choice that has that 12/2026. By the way it is possible to not run the truck and you may know that as per not pressing the brake but pressing and holding the start button for a few seconds and it lights up the dash ( its called service mode ) but that sucks battery power and if it were me doing it that way I would be throwing on a decent sized battery charger before doing it that way as killing your battery won't make you happy at me at all !.    Like I say, just a thought to try the Chev choices if you have already exhausted the Sierra choices but first it would be nice to know for sure what exact sensor model and hertz your truck uses as I assume only those choices that mention the sensor would work unless a choice that does not mention the sensor model would somehow work. Its frustrating when one is trying to use tools like this without the experience of the tool and the vehicle, as I am sure dealer techs themselves struggle with it when starting out or a new model year comes along that is slightly different.
    • I tried before I updated the scan tool just incase an update messed it up, but it never worked so I updated the scan tool and it still didn't work.   Only difference is I click on Sierra not Chevrolet cause I have a Sierra.   If I click on 2026-2024 I didn't have any option to change placard, when I click on 2023 it does give me the option but when I try to do it,.it says vehicle not supported!   I have my region or market or whatever it is set to America I think, is that what yours is set to?
