2019 Denali...I'm quite disappointed

Maybe so, but it's a truck.  It's also a first year model and my Daddy taught me to never buy a first year model car, let some other guy be the guinnea pig.

Well, you are in the driver seat. Nobody is forcing you to buy a vehicle that you find problems with there are other manufacturers but lo and behold they all have their issues as well. The person buying a vehicle should do a very comprehensive walk around and look for everything and anything that might be an issue and have it address before they sign on the dotted line. Also, someone mentioned first year redesign is always a problem for fit and finish, so go back and revisit next year. Or make other choices but let them know why you're making other choices, then you wonder if they really care.

Even when I'm out there just looking at the car lots and I see something and it's salesman comes out and I see something that I don't like I mentioned it to them and sometimes they do respond with a positive answer sometimes they shrug their shoulders and say. " I don't know "   that's when you go somewhere else. You're the one making the payments you're the one writing the check you're the one that's in charge.

Just rambling here voice texting so you grammar Nazis please don't take offense to my lack of sentence structure :-) and punctuation LOL

Those panel lines won't matter after a jaunt through the woods on a 6 foot wide trail after crossing a muddy bog to yank someone out of the mud or recover a deer.

Wait. So because it’ll eventually get scratched or banged up, it’s ok to accept a brand new truck with lousy fit and finish?

That’s ridiculous.

Exactly! Since when is a Denali or High Country considered a mud runner?

Possibly being facetious, however some people do use their trucks as work trucks and don't really care about fit and finish as long as a damn thing runs properly. But sounding like a politician I guess I would have to say I understand both sides. But I do not understand how any manufacturer can set something out for sale that is inferior or sub quality in the fit and finish Department.

I take my Denali everywhere weather it's downtown looking nice or up in the mountains hauling trailers Lumber to build cabins, or plowing snow, I use it for everything after 3 years I've got scratches I've gotten miscellaneous things wrong here and there, but it's pretty much my truck and I'll do what I want with it, but I wouldn't want GM to decide for me that I would accept a vehicle that is beat up not put together properly or have body panels that aren't fitted properly.

Sometimes when you've got Battle Scars on your vehicle you're less stressed about having new ones because it's inevitable that it will happen someday as we all know those dreaded shopping carts and old ladies LOL great, now I'm a sexist I can never run for president damn

These are all valid points.

They are a mass produced product though.

How much do you have to spend to get a quality product?

I have gotten over perfectionism because I had driven myself nuts for to long a time.

I can find a flaw with  almost everything we buy if I look hard enough.

I'm not saying GM shouldn't do a better job, it's accepting the way things are.

Do I like it NO, but other things are more important.

I assume the body panels are designed to align properly.  If I was about to purchase a new vehicle and discovered a misalignment, I'd make the repair a condition of the sale. My '15 is perfect but my '09 had doors that fit like they came from another truck.  I was allowed to watch as the dealer's body shop made a few adjustments.   They fit perfectly for my subsequent 6 years of ownership.

"$1500 Destination and Dealer Prep".  Use to say that on each sticker. I can't say when but the Dealer Prep part I see is no longer on the sticker.

I wish Alpha Romeo made trucks. $80 K for a Caddy CT6 for the same paint work and body finish you  get on the Cruze. Alfa Romeo Giulia cost half as much and looks like Chip Foose built it.

This isn't about ability or the fact the thing is mass produced. This is a company mind set, culture. One I wont accept anymore. You don't get to point at the emblem and say hand over  your wallet, then tell me to live with it.

That's ok and pretty much expected. But you put the wear and tear on it. They can do better than what's in the pictures.

Here in NC I see a bunch of 2500 Denali's used as farm trucks and beat all to heck.  Next time I see one I need to take a picture and post it.  Farmers around here really enjoy their trucks and use them hard.

It seems that quality in fit and finish has been long gone.  I can find simple issues with my 2002. If it was a concern GM wouldn't allow it, but they are making a nice profit and sad that the general public purchase vehicles and doesn't care.  Only a few out there of us that actually look at things like this.

Until they start to loose money, things are not going to change.  Sad but that is just the way it is.

Remember when the new C7 vettes came out, and had all the body panel alignment issues? Yeah the Vette forum was blowing up over that... lol. And those cars have a way smaller production #.

I get wanting near perfection for that kind of money... but mass produced vehicles are all not going to be perfect. 95% of people in the market more than likely could care less... and I imagine for the other small percentage GM would just rather deal with case by case lol. When I worked at a dealership... you would not believe the amount of people who walked in and just signed papers on cars, no test drive at all. Literally just a seat test, get in.. close the door.. and ok I want it. lol.

Me personally I test drive everything, just because it's "new" does not mean its right. LOL.... I used to find things on PDI inspections all the time.

That why groceries keep going up? Can't grow anything with out an $80,000 truck every couple years?

My 1500 SLT, my 2500 Denali Duramax, and now my 1500 LTZ have all been used and I mean used hard. They're trucks, that is exactly what they're made to do...between my ranch, our family farm, and hunting camp my trucks have been through a lot of mud and towed anything you can imagine. I just enjoy the amenities of the higher trims and I always take care of my trucks after using them as they were intended to be used.

As a farm owner and an agricultural engineer, I can assure you that has absolutely nothing to do with the production costs of your "groceries"

To the main point of this thread, I am pretty astonished that gaps like that made it out of the factory. As several other people said you never buy the first year of a new model, let em work the kinks out first.

Nice straight answer and my apologies if my wise crack offended.

Personally, those panel problems wouldn't be acceptable on a WT model.
