Would love Elite's $.02. I still think the the clean side separator fits strange. I'll take a video of it later today and post it.

Well that would be awesome considering this is a 2016 with only 9k miles on it

Guess I may not being paying close enough attention. Is that a pic of your crank case oil? Or, is it just liquid captured by condensation? Whenever crankcase engine oil looks like chocolate milk there's a lot of other liquid mixed with it; invariably antifreeze. Also, if that pic should indeed be of your engine oil then your engine is shot. Demand a new engine. Just an input from an old gear-head ...

That's the blowby caught by my catch can

Mine looks the same in the colder months, then when it gets warm it looks like regular oil

Yes, this looks completely normal. It will have this appearance, especially in the colder months, when you're catching more condensation.

Installed an Elite E2-X catch can yesterday. I had already installed an Airaid MIT (modular intake tube) so some of the PCV plumbing had already been modified.

The Elite Engineering website instructions (since instructions were not shipped with the product) are pretty clear and easy to follow. If you have an Airaid MIT however, you might need to add some fittings to make it work.

I used two Russell fittings to make it work:

Russell PN# 670150 AN- NPT, 1/2" thread- replaces the Airaid MIT 5/8" fitting

and:

Russell PN# 624083 45' twist lock hose end so you can use 3/8" hose to connect to the Elite Clean Air Separator

Installed with 1,112 miles on the odometer, drove 10 miles and collected 4 drops of oily water.

I mounted the unit to the radiator support bolt, I am going to add a flat washer between the rubber bushing and the mounting bolt to avoid stressing the rubber bushing. post-155440-0-44834700-1460315934_thumb.jpg

Sorry for the delay. The Clean Side Separator should be slightly loose to allow ease of removal, but not overlay loose.

Ok I'm really considering ordering yalls catch can, our 2014 silverado 5.3 has a rough idle sometimes, but just for a minute then goes away. I have switched to 93 has solved that problem mostly

Does this catch can help with a smother idle if that makes any sense. This thread reads like a catch can is a must have

How's your set up working?

I want the air raid intake tube also

so far so good. I haven't really put much mileage on it yet. The Airaid MIT changes the sound of the intake slightly. At first I didn't like it. It seemes to amplify the helicopter sound under load at low RPMs. Under hard acceleration it growls like my mother in law on her period. I did notice that I can go into AFM mode quicker and stay in longer...not sure if it's just me learning how to drive the truck (only have 1200 miles on it) or if the increased air flow is the reason....

lol I guess I need to get some more seat time to really see what's going on. Going to run down to Myrtle Beach at the end of the month so I should be able to get a good idea how things are going.

Ok, so, I'm a Systems Engineer and not an automotive guy in the least, short of doing whatever maintenance I can myself to learn and save money, and I could use some help selecting the correct EE X-2.

Brand new 2016 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with just over 1,200 miles on it. Now I know Chevy is GM, and I know I have the 5.3L engine, but I can't make heads or tails on the available models so I'm just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

TIA

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
