I guess I’m not quite sure. Probably the ease of sliding totes/boxes in the bed. I’ve never had the Spray-in liner before. Maybe I should have asked if it’s easy to slide things around in the bed without having to pick them up to reposition them. By the way I’m new to this forum but am familiar with some others. By the way I was in the Marines Semper Fi. Thanks

The only issue with sliding things around is those objects may get scratched.  I have a bed mat for if I am hauling anything I do not want to get scratched and it is easy enough to roll it out if I am hauling scrap, mulch, anything I hunt, etc.

I have heard that stuff doesn't slide on the spray in liner very well. However, I'm not sure it would slide much better on a drop in liner. One of my friends keeps rubber mats in the bed of his GMT-900 to enable stuff to slide a little easier and to keep the liner from scratching his stuff.

Sorry if I accidentally gave the impression I was in the military. This is just the screen name I use for all my online activities.

Used to be we worried about our stuff scratching the bed. Now we worry about the bed liner scratching our stuff. ?

if the truck came with it fine but line x i would think be much better option and cheaper....if your only adding bedliner option

nothing the manufacturer does is top notch tho, it all has to meet a pricepoint and made for max profit so i wouldn't expect it to be as good....if it happened to come with one fine if not i just go to line x

I think it depends on what exactly the GM liner is. In Canada, GM charges $600 for their liner and Line X charges $530 for theirs. So if the GM liner is decent quality, it might be worth $70 not to have to take your truck to a shop on a weekday, drop it off for a few hours, get a ride or a taxi back and forth, etc.

Thanks for the info. I may just get the bed rug. Had that on my last two trucks and was awesome. If you ever kneeled in the bed the rug is the way to go. I might be waiting for a while anyway with GM not productive with trucks now. I have time to think about it. I like forums, people have honest opinions and is very helpful.

yeah its kind of pain....line x quoted me  like $425 for basic and $525 for their best one which is supposedly really strong and lots of praise.....but yeah I have to drop it off and wait 4 hrs.....its nice to drive off with everything done but not so nice to have liner peeling so that can be hassle too....I have seen quite a few where people had peeling issue when I was looking at doing this, but everyone said line x was superior product so idk.....where I live it probably wouldn't matter but some of you where weather is drastic and how you use truck may or may not be an issue

I like the fact stuff doesn't slide with spray in, I had plastic drop in and everything would be sliding  around in back while driving....paint cans opening up, heavy stuff smashing tailgate for me it wasn't good....but again it depends how you use your truck.....you may want stuff to slide really easy it could be beneficial to some

I went with standard because my understanding is the only thing the "better" ones add is UV protection, which I didn't figure I needed because I have a canopy on my truck.

When I was at the dealership building the truck, I’m pretty sure the spray-on bedliner was built into the AT4. I guess I never did ask if it was an option not to have it done. When I get the truck (not sure when) I’ll let you know how I think of the quality and so forth. I’ll see if I can add a photo too.

I've mostly looked at trucks with the build and price tool and it's been optional on all the ones I've built but I don't think I've built an AT4 and it could just be that the dealers aren't ordering any without the liner.

Yeah, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the quality. Thanks.

Yes I will do that. Thanks

anyone try Rhino liner ?  I have been using them for 3 of my last trucks. Price is comparable and it feels thick and dosent kill the knees. Never any issues with it holding up

Posted (edited)

Had Rhino in 3 different trucks, really liked the product, would use them again if I bought a truck without a liner.

The 3 K2's I have/had all came with the factory (Line-X?) and they have worked well, I keep my factory GM rubber mat on top and for the most part things stay in place.

The one advantage to the factory, is that they do a nice clean job on the installation, where as no matter where I took my other trucks, they always managed to put a scratch somewhere, or overspray all over the place.

I have a 2020 GMC 2500 AT4 ordered and the package comes with a spray-on bedliner. I have thoughts of purchasing the drop in liner to put over the spray-on. Has anyone ever done this before?

This is so ridiculously unnecessary.

GM factory bed liner is one of the best. It's extremely tough. I've had loads of sharp edged rock dumped into my bed multiple times...the bedliner doesn't seem to mind. Things slide on it quite well too. It is a rough texture and I wouldn't slide anything on it that is softer than the liner. If you want to transport nice wood furniture, etc, put a rubber mat in the bed. I'm honestly amazed that anyone would have any complaints about it.

    • Folks, Have a great new 2026 WT  (std cab, 2.7/4WD) w/base 40/20/40 mech adj bench "fake buckets"  (with lower and upper center console) heavy vinyl seats.  Overall the seats are very comfortable and the vinyl is heavy and appears less likely to 'split out'. Am very tall (6'5")  + a bad back/osteporosis/former hyperparathyroidism so ease/range of movement is a bit restricted.  The truck rides a bit high and I use a nerf step bar w/my left foot to step in, then I put right foot/leg in, drag my butt in  & get seated.  Worked fine in my 2018 RAM quadCab. But I end up dragging my butt over the left raised sidecushsion area of vinyl seat, and due to texture there's fair amount of traction on slide inward.  (ArmorAll didn't improve.) If the seat were even ~1/2" - 3/4" lower it'd be helpful, but base seats just have the forward/backward underseat bail and the side lever for tilt which really doesn't affect seat height.   I really don't want to 'de-puff' the left side sidecushion forming the  fake 'bucket'. I know one company sells 'seat elevator blocks':  but is there a simple way of lowering the height of the driver seat instead?   Thanks Bill W San Jose
    • I have a basic 2026 1500 WT  (2.7L/4WD reg cab shorttbed). Comfy, generally happy with electronics/radio - but is there a way I can add switches to steering wheel right-side position (curr. empty) so I can adjust volume, push phone button to voice dial, etc? Bill W San Jose
    • The curb weight on a 1 ton crew cab long bed is around 7k lbs.  Now, I don't know where you went to school but 9k is not more than 2x 7k lbs. More than 2x 7k lbs would be 14k+.   With that said, obviously yes you're going to feel a 9k lb trailer when slowing down.  I already said, when accelerating.  When changing lanes?  No.  But if you look at the context of what was quoted, the original person said, "after a mile or two..." which means that would be after the accelerating portion and you're driving a generally steady pace.  Please do learn to read and comprehend.
    • So I purchased the Range unit for my 2026 and I am seeing different locations suggested for the ECM . Can anyone confirm wither under hood, left side or right side or behind the wheelwell?
    • Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.
