Keep careful record of all your conversations. The lemon law started ticking the minute your truck arrived at the shop. Most states 30 days out of service and you get a refund. Assuming it will take a while to ship a new motor and get it installed.

Quick update. So for the last few days I had assumed the new engine was on order and this coming week the engine would be swapped out. I hear from the service tech yesterday that GM had them running procedures on the engine to get it loosened up and now they can move the cylinders but not freely and easily. The dealership still recommends a new engine but GM is saying to treat/repair the engine and try that first.

So they are in a stand off with the dealership appealing again to GM for a new engine. A whole work week with no repairs or parts ordered. I'm steamed.

Not to put salt on the wound.

Now how much is that warranty worth?

My point is you shouldn't have to go through this.

We spend our money but everyone else makes the rules.

It's wrong IMO.

You should be on the phone with GM customer care chewing someone's ear off.  Or, you can remain quiet and hope they take longer than 30 days and lemon that sucker.  Had a 2 stoke motorcycle that would seize up and could get un-seized for another short ride.  Problem was, it kept seizing until it was finally done and croaked for good.  Don't think I'd want a truck that was seized and broke free.  All kinds of bad there.

I just complained - calmly but firmly - to GM customer care. Let them know this is my third GMC in 5 years (owned a Canyon prior and have a Yukon as a family hauler) and that unless they do right by me I'm done with the brand. They put me on with a senior case worker that approved the new engine on the spot and added that if I'm unhappy with the install and replacement that they'd do a truck swap. So a call to GM was well worth it.

Customer loyalty, Ha. I bought 4 Hyundai’s and 3 GMCs in ten years at my local GMC- Hyundai dealer. They lost me for 500$ when they couldn’t match what Toyota offer for trade in on a new Camry. I even got the Camry cheaper than a Sonata. I hope they gave you a loner.

Filter is a bad choice for collecting an oil analysis sample.  Suck it out from the dipstick with a vac pump if you can.

Yeah, I'm rocking a Chevy Traverse while they fix my Sierra.

Same here, 2019 Sierra Denali 1500, going 25 MPH for 200', oil warning came on, could not pull over fast enough, puddle of oil under engine and 200' oil slick behind me. engine could not have been running more than 10 seconds.

Oil cooler line failure, possible bad crimp at factory. Bearings were shot. Dealer installing new engine as I'm writing this.

Really hard to believe that an engine would seize that fast.  The chimes start and you stop the engine.  Unbelievable.   I have been to party's where they would start engines with no oil and see how long they would run.  Longer then this.  They are going to try to f%^k ya man.  Be careful.

I'd be very pleased with that resolution.

Imagine running down the interstate doing 70mph and that line letting loose.  It wouldn't take long for the engine to run dry and you being able to get off the road safely.  Not to mention the oil slick on the road that you just left.  This issue is just crazy!

This is why I did a 3 year lease this time.

Any word if this has been fixed by Chevy yet? Any particular build dates this effected? I'm worried as hell now

Definitely not fixed!  Took delivery of a 2020 Sierra Denali on Friday 5/22.  It happened to me today on 5/26.  Build date was 2/20.  Engine is a 6.2

Less than 200 f-ing miles!!

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
