Trailer lights flash

I read the link. I would think it could check without flashing the lights on my boat all night long in a motel parking lot. If there is no fix, that’s got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of.

Might be enough to make a thief move on to the next trailer instead of yours. Or maybe they may not even notice. I know that snowmobiles and trailers are stolen in Canada from the hotels pretty frequently so if someone passes mine and messes with the next one I'm ok with that. My cousin had 2 trailers and 8 sleds stolen in just 1 trip.

I wouldnt want the lights flickering on my sled trailer in sub zero weather like that, had my boat on my 2020 at4 today and noticed the lights flashing, not a fan, and i bet with the sled ttailers in winter it flickers enough to draw on the battery

Super annoying, and I just noticed this too! I decided to just take the trailer pin out of the hitch plug. The problem would be if someone takes off and doesn't plug that back in.

I just got back from my dealer today and complained about it, he said it was the first time he had ever heard of it.

I have just decided to let it go. Annoying, but it doesn't drain my battery so I only notice it on my rear light bar now when I'm paying attention.

I do wish there was a way to override it.

I am having the same trouble with my trailer lights flickering on/off at regular intervals when my truck (2019 Chevy Silverado) is off and trailer wiring still attached. Truck dealership told me to turn off the theft deterrent mode but that didn’t help. Only manually unplugging my trailer from the truck stops the light flickering. Dumb invention if you ask me!!! Frustrated in Ohio!!

I have also experienced the flickering but only when the truck was turned off.  And being unaware of the theft component of this situation (first time hooking my trailer to my truck) when I saw the lights flickering for the first time immediately unplugged it from my truck as I didn't want some strange electrical issue to burn up my camper or truck;  of course the alarm/horn started going off.  Just left it unplugged for the night.   I also found out that my Furrion rear camera on my RV travel trailer wouldn't work either.  Works just fine when I hook it up to my Honda Pilot (did you hear that GM?).  There is another thread in forums with a link to Amazon for a wiring gizmo that supposedly tricks the power to the camera so it works.

 

Now that I have had a chance to read more I'm totally surprised GM isn't all over this issue.  We can't just accept this.  WTF were they thinking?  Didn't this go through some quality assurance?  We buy trucks to pull stuff around.  

 

had a 2002 Pontiac Firebird at one time and the Product Manager for F-body was always in the forums replying to owners questions and feedback.  Does this site or any other GM truck forums have someone lurking in the channels?   Seems like we need a response from someone up the food chain, not just the local dealership 'service advisor'.

Haven’t even made the first payment on my 2020 Sierra SLT Premium to get super annoyed by the 10-second flashing trailer lights. Mostly because RTFM digging in a 500-page owners manual for an explanation = huge waste of time. THEFT DETERRENT is false; after waiting a half-hour for the blinks to stop, they never did so I disconnected the wiring harness to emulate a thief and wake up the neighbors. Not one peep and the would be thief would be gone with my new sled trailer and two new ArcticCat ZR6000’s. Note to the wise on the thread: lock your __it up and thieves will hunt for easier prey.
If the blinks are that annoying, we just need to deal with it and pull the harness.

I had incandescent lights in my trailer, and you couldn't see the flash.  When I went to LED, I could see them.  Not a big deal.  Just part of the security system.  We have Dodge trucks at work with utility bodies and LED lights.  They always have a faint glow on them as well.

Same here. Trailer with all LEDs and can see it flash at night. My other trailer with incandescent isn’t visible. The LEDs are such low voltage the pulse is enough you can see it. Not a big deal

Use Curt part number 57003, puts resistance inline without splicing.

First I have seen of this. To confirm process. Remove factory plug assembly install new plug, and the plug gets put into factory assembly under the bumper?

The Curt 57003 does not connect to the harness under the bumper. It is designed to go in-line with the trailer as it has the male and female 7 way blade connectors. It has a different mount than the OE connector on the bumper.
