i live in Texas where the weather is usually not to extreme except for the heat, so is it ok to leave it in auto or should i leave it in 2 wheel high for normal driving? my truck is a 2013 GMC Sierra with 4 wheel drive capabilities.

I would just use 2wd.  Auto only if it is raining like crazy for that added safety or in the winter with ice and snow.  Otherwise 2wd is what you want to use.

01 blurb in dfw. We leave it in 2wd. We tried auto but figured out a top end set of rain capable tires was better for the light rain.

4wd for ice and snow (boys have made a good amount of money pulling people back onto the road) and for camping/hunting trips.

I would suggest primarily driving in 2wd, and then occasionally (every month or two) drive in AWD or 4wd for a short distance, to make sure that the system is still working properly.  This reduces wear & tear on the various clutches used for AWD, while making sure it's working for when you need it.

In the 17 years ive driven my truck, ive only used auto 4wd a handful of times and it was with highway driving in really questinable snow and ice.

4wd still works like a charm!

Ive had mechanic family friend of mine congratulate me for not keeping it in auto permanently.  He said it somehow can burn the system up, the clutch?  Cant remember what he said.

For the most part use 2wd and select 4wd only when needed.
